The 7 people that voted Soft Houston #1 should have their voting privileges revoked

This is a recurring theme across anything I see about polls, HOW are they getting any first place votes? Must all be Soft Houston fans casting those votes.

The STATS poll last year was very heavy SHSU. They were drinking the kool-aid all last season on them. I was among the many that thought it was a terrible poll. While we are ranked #1... we should be. As for SHSU #3 with 7 first place votes... par for the course when it comes to the STATS poll. I'm surprised they didn't have more, to be honest.
SHSU made them look foolish last year... and they will make them look foolish this year.

From the STATS article...
"I think we deal with it by embracing it and going at it head-on," senior quarterback Bryan Schor said. "It's not something we're going to run away from as a team. We realize people are going to be gunning for us. We were lucky enough to go on and win a national championship. That's something that everybody else wants."
and...
"I've been extremely pleased with the way they've approached summer workouts, the way they've worked, their focus," second-year coach Mike Houston said. "They are very driven and I think they have high expectations for themselves."

I love the way BS looks at sitting at the top. You don't get this type of opportunity very often, accept it, make the best of it, and prepare yourself for the challenge of staying there.

We're #1 in the FCS Coaches Poll as well.

Eh, I wouldn't care about it, pre season polls are as worthless as titties on a bull. Thank god for the playoffs.
As far as the pre season #1, unless god forbid a 1970 Marshall happened, the team that won the NC the prior season is going to be pre season #1 in the 2 major polls, no matter how many starters/all conference/all american are lost/return, transfers gotten, coaching changes, etc..

Perhaps, but I believe this ranking to be legit and appropriate.

We beat 5 of the current top 10 last year...
NDSU - 4 I believe
SHSU - 1, max? (edit ... zero, Chat is 12)

Agreed.
But overall these pre season polls are essentially the prior year's season ending polls, with some teams shuffled around a few spots. I can understand doing a pre season Top 5, maybe Top 10, maybe even a Top 15. But after that, its as worthless as drawing names out of a hat. Total garbage.
Now if they didn't start the full Top 25 polls until the 1st week of Oct, then they wouldn't be based almost entirely on last year like these are, but on a 5-6 weeks results. Somewhat worthwhile. But that would make too much sense...
