Looks about right to me. I would put Memphis closer to Houston, and put Navy over Temple. The rest seems okay.

Are you going to the Memphis-GSU game on September 30? I'll be there. I live about 100 miles south of Atlanta.

Georgia Southern has a great program. They and App St pretty much dominated the FCS. I'd def go to one of their games.

RE: Massey Composite Pre-season Rankings
Massey Ratings (not composite) rank the AAC, along with simulated win loss records, like this:
43 Temple 8.55-3.45
47 South Florida 9.13-2.87
52 Tulsa 7.26-4.74
54 Houston 7.61-4.39
66 Navy 7.02-4.98
67 Memphis 8.06-3.94
89 SMU 6.01-5.99
91 UCF 5.81-6.19
108 Tulane 4.53-7.47
109 Cincinnati 5.24-6.76
115 East Carolina 3.41-8.59
137 Connecticut 3.26-8.74

Their FAQ page says:
"Preseason ratings are based on an extrapolation recent years' results, tuned to fit historical trends and regression to the mean. A team's future performance is expected to be consistent with the strength of the program, but sometimes there may be temporary spikes. Other potentially significant indicators (ex. returning starters, coaching changes, and recruiting) are ignored. Therefore, preseason ratings should not be taken too seriously."

It sounds like most preseason computer models are primarily based on recent performance and don't always take into account significant changes from the last season. I won't take them too seriously.

I agree, but this is Georgia State in Atlanta, an FBS game.

Both schools are in the SunBelt now, but GA Southern is in Statesboro, about 200 miles SE of Atlanta.

Yeah, that definitely looks like last year's rankings much more than this year's projections. A lot of preseason rankings suffer from that.

I really enjoyed watching the Eagles in their FCS years, especially as a Lehigh undergrad. Congrats on being an FCS powerhouse, and I hope you continue that success into your FBS years.

The casual college athletics fan knows the difference between UCONN and Central Connecticut State University. The same cannot be said about Georgia Southern and Georgia State.

Panama:

So is your stadium ready? If I remember correctly you bought the old Braves stadium and converted it. I apologize for not knowing where you are in the process and I'm too lazy to look it up...any information you have would be great. Thanks!

RE: Massey Composite Pre-season Rankings
I had really hoped to be there for Georgia State's first game in the new digs. Unfortunately it's on a Thursday and I just can't make it fit my schedule. But I'll definitely be there for one or two games the rest of the season.

I have no idea if the American will ever expand, or not. Looking over the past 30 years of college football history, my honest guess is that it will happen, sooner or later. If it happens any point after about 2022, Georgia State will be at/near the top of the list. If it happens sooner than that, I don't think they'll be ready.

Georgia State is like Tulane, without the whole academic thing...

Like "fetch," it's never gonna happen.
