Charlotte having the easiest schedule seems appropriate...

This probably represents a win, two toss ups, and a butt-kicking. That seems about right.

Not sure about the FCS hate given one win over FCS counts toward bowl eligibility (and just ask Virginia how it felt to have Richmond put their backups in last year); but, your method, your rules. For those seasons where we have a full slate (using this year's points), we still have an FCS game each year, so we'd be at 189 (2018), 202 (2019), and 198 (2020). The methodology seems deceiving considering we're playing Tennessee twice, Duke, and Clemson in that three year span.

Looking at your projected numbers for 2018, 2019 and 2020, Charlotte would be 11th, 8th and 10th if inserted individually into this year's rankings. That's really not bad. The problem for you however is not that you get no points for a FCS team, it is that Charlotte is playing only one P5 team in any of those years.

App State is a nice mid-grade team, but a Tennessee/App State combo for your two toughest teams cannot compare with those teams that schedule two P5 teams. Even that will not necessarily result in a higher strength of schedule if the P5 teams are relatively weak. WKU can attest to that.

Finally, I don't believe the methodology is deceiving. For 2018 - 2020, I think a P5-G5-G5-FCS schedule gives you what you realistically have -- a middle-third C-USA OOC strength of schedule. As for this year, scheduling App State instead of GA State would have resulted in an additional 51 points, bringing Charlotte up to 10th place. Frankly, it just depends on who you schedule.

RE: Who has the most difficult OOC Schedule?
Honestly I am so thankful for WKU that our schedule is manageable so hopefully we can grow under a new coach and help raise up some talent for the coming years. The next 3 years are going to be tough:

2018 (2x P5, G5, FCS):
Louisville
Wisconsin
Ball State
Maine

2019 (2x P5, Independent, FCS):
Louisville
Indiana
Army
Central Arkansas

2020 (2x P5, FCS):
Louisville
Indiana
Chattanooga

We NEED this year!

UTEP will have a lot of returning starters next year and with that schedule it could well be a 3-1 start to the season.

Ehh, don't think so. MTSU will most likely lose to Minnesota and Syracuse and very well could lose to Vanderbilt also; while WKU will likely lose to Vanderbilt and possibly also Illinois. Guess we will just have to hide and watch, but I will be surprised if together they win more than two of those five games, if any at all.
