Well, it's a tax, right? They have to pay it.

Here's why the Democrats will continue to lose by backing Obamacare. For the free riders and heavily subsidized Obamacare clients---it doesn't matter. The government subsidy for the free riders increases automatically in lock step with any premium increases. The middle class folks that get little or no subsidy feel the entire impact of premium increases. These middle class people typically split between Republican and Democrat---but these MASSIVE Obamacare premiums are literally manufacturingla Republican votes among the middle class faster than Malaysian child labor can make Nikes.

When that 47% increase hits the Republicans just get more middle class Indiana votes. When Pelosi stands at a microphone with those unblinking fish eyes and tells America Obamacare is working---Republicans win more middle class votes. The folks getting subsidies were always going to vote democrat---but Dems will rue the day they declared war on the swing vote middle class. Dumbest move ever. The Republicans didn't win 2016---the Democrats gave it to em.

Basically, Obamacare is subsidizing the non-working welfare class. That has to be made up somewhere, and what it is doing is hitting the working middle class, who make just enough to disqualify themselves for subsidies. It's a zero-sum game. For there to be winners, there also have to be losers.

Here's where the political calculus hits. Democrats keep talking about how many will lose coverage if it is repealed. Doing the math, there probably are a few more of those who will be hurt if it goes away than of those who will get out of their current bind. But here's the rub. The welfare class who will be hurt by repeal were going to vote democrat anyway. Little or no gain for democrats there. The blue collar voters who would be better off without it were too. Now at least some of them become republican votes. That's what happened to turn Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin into Trump states in 2016.

Exactly. With insurance premiums that are already bigger than thier mortgage---but rising at 40% a year while wages are stagnant---its now inevitable that the middle class is going to become the new home of the uninsured. It's simple math. They simply can't keep up---and in this case, it's no longer really logical to even try.

The entire purpose of Insurance is to protect one from financial ruin---in this case, the insurance premiums themselves are so high they now ARE THE CAUSE of financial ruin. Basically, for these consumers, health insurance no longer serves any logical purpose. if the premiums themselves cause financial ruin, your better off taking your chances. If your fairly healthy, you'll be a huge winner. If f you get sick, your ruined, but that was going to happen with or without insurance. Forgoing insurance coverage is soon to be the only option for many middle class families....well, that and voting Republican.
