RE: Preseason Coaches Poll
You would think for betterment of conf./recognition all CUSA coaches would cast a top 25 vote for CUSA preseason media favorite....

First time in 4 years that Marshall hasn't had votes in the Preseason poll.

Freakin' shell of what we are supposed to be.

To add on Mike Sanford and Seth Littrell also voted. That's half of CUSA coaches.

Had no idea Sanford had a vote. If Willie T was still our coach he would have voted us #1 in the country. That's how Willie T rolls.

At the preseason coaches get together for the Sun Belt Willie picked the Toppers to win the Belt. This following a 2 win season after a winless season. Everyone laughed and laughed. Myself included. I thought he was nuts.

Western lost one conference game that year to Arky State who went undefeated. Willie wasn't so nuts. Lol. No. He really is nuts. I can't wait until the big time PAC 12 press gets hold of Willie. Should make for some fun stuff.

Thanks for the correction. I looked it over twice and totally missed those two.

Well now for sure makes sense why WKU got 0 votes, all these guys voted 1 vote each for La. Tech....

Five guys, four votes. You major in math?

ok 4 out of 5, sorry thought they rec. 5 votes, no need to be a ******* about it....thanks for clarification...

Pfffffff You don't know that, it was just a few years ago Tech pounded WKU 55-9 (with Doughty) and it can happen again. Just because WKU has had two decent seasons don't think that WKU can't run bad. It can happen to Tech too

Skip is well known and liked among coaches, could have definitely been someone outside of CUSA

I guess they could if they were team players.

Or, they could vote their beliefs.

I am just wondering why the coaches and the media don't see eye to eye. Who knows more, the coaches or the media?

Neither when it comes to pre season but the Power 5 teams get the benefit of the doubt...They have to prove they really suck before they drop, the non P5 teams have to win 9 or 10 games in a row before getting ranked....

I saw the list of coaches yesterday. Today when I read the comments from some WKU fans dissing on Wilder I thought it was funny since their own coach didn't vote them. It would have been nice if all the CUSA coaches had shown some love to WKU.

CUSA should play the game just as the coaches in other G5 conference do.....

just a few that probably understand that voting up conference teams is better for everyone in the conference

App 11
Troy 6
Temple 8
Tulsa 10
Houston 7
Memphis 22

Western might have a drop off this year, very well could happen. Young coaches usually, lose a game or two, on coaching moves they wont two or three years from now. But one thing is for sure....

there's not G5 school listed in this poll that's had a better combined winning % or wins over the last two seasons than Western. I don't think that will translate to respect from other coaches. Hell they are too busy voting up their conference teams. But it damn well should with the coaches in CUSA.

Don't have a problem with Tech getting votes but when you (coaches) vote a school to win the east for the 3rd straight year. That school Finished last season tied for 5th with most wins and tied for 8th with best winning % nationally and ran through this conference by winning games by over 3 tds. You should at least respect your conference enough to put your 2 time defending champion and according to your vote (for this year) 3time eastern champion....in your top 25.

If you don't then don't go on TV or tell reporters how your team is not getting the respect they deserve. How can you expect some other coach or reporter to respect your conference if the coaches in CUSA don't.

BTW coaches can not vote for their school in the coaches poll. At least no going by what I read on another board

Think Bailiff and Stockstill are friends of Holtz. I could see them voting for Tech. Could also be some people taking into account the fact that we finished last season beating a top 25 team.

That's not the point, every team in CUSA is 1 coaching hire or a season from get pounded in the ground like WKU did in 2014. So is Tech. Two decent seasons in a row doesn't justified any ranking.

WKU also has perform very poorly against P5 teams, Alabama, Vandy, LSU. I watched those games WKU didnt earn any respect with those performances.
When Tech was ranked in 2012, we lost to #6 (final ranking) Texas A&M by 2, and beat Virginia and Illinois. Respect in polls is earned by competing with P-5 that's just the way it is.

Western held Bama to or below their season average on just about all stats
Western is 1-1 against Vandy and if not for bad coaching on the last Western drive would be 2-2. But other than losing (which is the only stats that really matters) Western out played Vandy hands down last year...

3 turnovers inside the Vandy 20 ( the 2 & 10 & a miss fg) or it's a 21 point win. Western played LSU in a rain storm for 2/3 of that game.

But that really has nothing to do with what I said. And if what a tea did against P5 plays makes a difference...Tech got the crap knocked out of them against far worse P5 schools. Texas Tech, Mississippi State.

If CUSA coaches don't respect getting the dog crap beat out of them every time they took the field against Western over those 2 years....

don't expect any other coaches to

For the most part, ever one performs poorly against Alabama. Clemson without Watson would perform poorly against Alabama. You also don't get respect for beating up a conference ranked last in the CFP standings, especially preseason following the year of that ranking. Marshall's performance matters very much to the perception of the conference as a legacy school and they need to perform better than they did last season to bring the conference back up to a respectable level.

I hope they all voted for the teams they thought the best. Not for the teams in their conference, not for the teams in their state, not for the teams that they are friends with the coach, not for the teams picked by a bunch of reporters or by that cretin in Orlando, and not for the teams whose coach is cousin to their secretary.

I wouldn't complain if Tech didn't have any votes. Just saying a team can't perform that poorly against P5 an expect to be respected in the rankings.
