This is getting to be my travel time for the races. Bristol, Dega, Darlington, Texas and maybe Richmond all on the horizon. Have never visited a road course. Might have to soon.

Maybe it's better you just stick to Wendy's and leave the Sear Shack to those who know what a good burger is.

The guy gets up at 3am every morning to bake the buns fresh, they use a press to sear their burgers on a flat top so you end up with a very juicy and flavorful burger without it being overly greasy like a Dyers or 5 Guys, they make their own homemade pickles, cut their own fries, and the milkshakes are hand spun. Everything is fresh and handmade, maybe that just isn't your thing.

Doesn't Atlanta have a track closer than most of those?

I'd rather go to Bristol, Darlington, Talladega, Charlotte, Indy, Richmond, Fort Worth over Atlanta Motor Speedway.

He is a freakin machine. I remember him when he worked at Steak Escape. Knew everyone's name and would... not... stop... working. Worked his ace off. Nothing has hanged since moving over to Sear Shack. Talk about a guy who understands hard work.

Maybe being overcharged for AVERAGE food isn't my thing. It is a burger, not a steak, not an order of ribs, not an order of lobster.

The man that ordered in front of me bought a double with fries and drink, a single with fries and drink. His total was $24 and some change. I don't care what time the man gets up and don't care if he knows my name, their prices are ridiculous.

I haven't had Dyers since they left Cleveland 20 years or so ago. Never had a 5 Guys.

Hand spun shake? LOL For $5.75 and no bigger than a 14oz cup, you must enjoy getting fleeced. Go for it. Half priced shakes at Sonic after 8pm. You should give them a try.

Guess you are a hamburger connoisseur. I will leave getting gouged up to you and I actually don't mind.

I have been to all of those minus Indy. Have been to the drag strip at Indy but never the oval. Nothing wrong with Atlanta. Track needs a few upgrades but it is worth a trip. Catch a cheap flight on Delta or SW and inexpensive hotels are easy to find. Bristol and Darlington hotels have helped kill the crowds. Paying $300 a night with a 3 night minimum will put a hurt on your budget. The bigger cities can't raise the hotel rates because there are just too many choices. I went to the Kentucky race last month and found a room between Louisville and the track and barely spent $100 a night. Same with Charlotte for the 600 this past May. Hampton Inn, $100 a night. Out of the 13 facilities I have visited, Richmond stands out. Cheap rooms, enormous fairgrounds where the track is and close enough to DC to make a side trip and check out the sights.

Atlanta's race is right after Daytona. After I spend a week in Daytona, my wallet is light and the weather in Atlanta is tricky that time of year. I went to Atlanta when the race was Labor Day weekend, before they moved it back to Darlington.

I checked BurgerIM out. It's good. Little pricey but not to bad. The IM is Hebrew for "multiple."

I wasn't sh*tting on AMS, by the way, but I have been to all those tracks (most more than once) and I just don't have the urge to visit AMS.

Have you been to Pocono? That is next on my list. It looks like it is 150 miles from Philly or NY, so getting there from here seems to be a challenge.

RE: BurgerIM reviews??
No. Maybe someday I'll do a summer trip and get to see some northern races. Would love to.

I have a lot of family in South Florida and I've yet to go to Homestead too.
