Great, when does he arrive? Strange they had him on roster until this week, and then took him off.

Whatever, he seems to have a ton of upside, and would be a great addition.

RE: FB Camp Thread
I growing very concerned about depth at certain positions due to injuries and other factors. Those areas include the TE and Hybird LB position. And these things occurred pre-season so as injuries happen throughout the year well...I am suggesting to all EMU fans that they may have to lower their expectations a bit this year. And we still some questions about the long snapper, punting positions. Injuries as we know happen, the other factor items well we can't recruit replacements this late in the game or though we might. As you know we went from having two good TEs in Browning and Tuttle to then Browning and Kilby and now we face famine at that position. The available scholies for 2018 are growing.

I'm not going to let the lack of TE depth affect my expectations of this team. We will be seeing a lot more 3 and 4 receiver sets, as well as TE-eligible OL on run downs. Not the end of the world. We are still in good shape if the OL gels. Having a full season of Roback, Vann, Dieuly, and Bailey will help that.

Agree. EMU may have many new players along the line and at TE but the talent, depth, and experience at the skill positions should balance that out.

Shaq Jones was not on the pre-season 2-deep. I'm thinking the defense will be fine in that spot. There's depth and experience at the LB position. Brown is back too.

I hear you, esp. on the TE-eligible OL.

It will be up to the OC to fool the defense by putting in a lineup (including TE-eligible OL) which looks like a run and then boom hit them with a 3 step drop and quick pass.

No excuses. This is the most talented team at EMU in a while. All teams have attrition, injuries, tough schedules, etc. The good ones adapt and figure it out.

At the end of the day we have a very talented, 5th year Senior QB, with Pro potential. If he plays to his potential, that alone should get us 6 or 7 wins.

Looking forward to a tough, great season!

Agree with ETOUGH!

It's time to see if CC is fr4real. I believe he will lead EMU in back to back bowl seasons.

Dear Friends,
Every team is missing a player or two. Personally, I believe the teams with unproven quarterbacks are at greatest risk for the upcoming season. Let's see how the season unfolds. All the hand-wringing about unexperienced players here or there, only means we have to wait and see how they will perform.

Yes - best team in literally decades. Good teams overcome and find ways to win.

Glad to see so many of you with your glasses completely full. Looking at a mystery player Shedrick Dennis a DT, graduate from a Minnesota junior college. Not on roster, wondering if waiting for clearinghouse information to clear or will be a January 2018 player.

Local kid, here's his hudl from high school:

News out of practices has been rather quiet. Maybe that's a good thing considering any news at this time is usually bad news. Any word on how some of the position battles are shaping up?

I think we'll see a lot of rotations in 9 days as the coaches try to figure it out. Practice and real game situations are 2 very different animals. OL still unsettled, so there may be 8-9 guys taking reps for the experience, and good film for the coaches to review.

Defense should see a lot of rotations as well, because there is good depth and quality at all 3 levels, not necessarily because positions are unsettled. Rotations typically tighten up after the 1st few games as the best players step forward and separate themselves.

Would be great to take a good lead into the 4th qtr so we can see the Juco, and Stiebeling, get some extended reps.

Most excited to see what a Keen led Eagle offense looks like, basically without a TE.

We had a lot of inexperienced (Juco), and young guys, that made big contributions last year. More experience and maturity should have these guys dialed in and ready to go.

Well, ETough, you are setting us up for the 'ultimate' test of the proverbial wisdom:

"Offense puts fans in the seats, but defense wins championships." (hope I got the quote right).

This is not what we are used to in the MAC (MACtion), but it should be fun.

Question for ETough and Ken,

I'm surprised that Anton Skupin has not been converted to a TE. If he added 25 lbs, he should have the athleticism to get on the field. I saw him in practce and I doubt he ever sees the field as a QB.

Not to disparage the young man, but what are your thoughts?

Why not? Other guys have converted from qb to TE before.
