Liberty Schedule
I saw Liberty added a H&H with ODU (no money this time) and a 3-2 with VT. Does this change the minds of people here about scheduling H&H's with them?

I’d play home and home with them. Why not?

Nope, they can have fun trying to have a winning season. I would still rather play for conference championships and bowl games, then I guess participation trophies. Also shame on anyone falling for the monster that is Ian McCaw. As long as he is associated with the VBS in VA, I don't want to deal with them.

No interest. Not a big enough name to attract a crowd for us

RE: Liberty Schedule
I wouldn't care if we played them at their place if they paid us like they did for ODU. But for free? No thanks.

It makes sense for other Virginia schools to schedule them hence the games with ODU, UVA, and VA Tech in the future.

I'd probably watch them play UCA if nothing else was on. You know, for reasons.

You lost me on that bolded part. Playing Liberty would be a non conference game and wouldn't affect whether Coastal wins an SBC championship.

As for the other stuff, yeah, it's pretty disturbing that they have Ian McCaw as their AD.

I think he meant that Liberty has no chance of winning a conference title or being bowl eligible if they schedule above their means, not that Liberty affects other teams chances.

The VT series is BIG. Once you host VT, your perception will have to change greatly. Also commend VT and ODU for scheduling instate and should serve as a model for other instate programs. Keep in mind that the Univ. of Arkansas will not schedule ANY instate school in ANY sport at ANY time.

It's debatable that Liberty has "Not a big enough name to attract a crowd...". The lightning rod that Liberty is, and will be in the future, will generate interest as the "must win", "must not lose game" for most all SBC teams due to the past 5 years of the LU/SBC discussions.

Using the name logic, when LU becomes a "bigger name" then it would be appropriate for SBC teams to play LU?

If we get a deal like some of the other teams I say heck yes. I would do it if they just covered travel costs. As far as straight up I dont know yet lets see how they travel.

Article about VT/ODU/Liberty H/H schedule in today's Virginia Pilot from beat writer Harry Minium. Arrangement seems to be the schedule of envy for P5 and G5 state schools.

Several years ago, the Sun Belt tried to lure JMU, an offer the Dukes wisely declined.

What "other teams"? ODU got the money so they could move around the schedule. LU got like 6 games out of that one deal. They haven't paid anyone else to my knowledge.

I feel similarly but if that's the only reason for scheduling anyone then we shouldn't be in a conference with y'all. I'm pretty sure 3 FCS teams have had bigger crowds at TXST than any Sun Belt team and I doubt we're a draw for any of y'all.

Regarding the first part. Y'all might be a lightning rod in VA, but I've never heard of y'all before y'all started coming on this board. In fact one of my best friends who is a hardcore Southern Baptist hadn't even heard of y'all when I asked him about your realignment. The must win not lose game is always an FCS team so.....
