-NDSU listed starting OL avg was about 6'5 1/2", 312 (5 were listed 6'4"-6'7", 298-331).
-YSU listed starting OL avg was just under 6'5", 319 (5 were listed 6'4"-6'6", 305-350).

Didn't bother looking up UNC, but I assume they were up there..
I think ECU might be in the same size ballpark as NDSU and YSU were..

ECU had OL problems last year as the season wore on.
Here's the projected starters from Hoist the Colours and stats from ecupirates.com.

LT 67 – D'Ante Smith (So., 6-4, 336) 78 – Messiah Rice (Jr., 6-5, 294)
LG 64 – Des Barmore (Jr., 6-6, 333) 70 – Cortez Herrin (So., 6-3, 346)
C 55 – Garrett McGhin (Jr., 6-6, 327) 76 – Branden Pena (Jr., 6-2, 286)
RG 52 – Dqmarcus Shaw (Jr., 6-4, 316) 60 – Austin Lee (R-Fr., 6-1, 287)
RT 62 – Brandon Smith (Sr., 6-8, 327) 73 – Matt Morgan (Fr., 6-5, 276)

Starter Avg. 328, 6-6
Then that right there I believe will be the biggest OL JMU JMU has ever faced. Going back the last 18 or so years, I know the VT 3X, UNC 3x, WVU 2X, UMD 2X, etc, etc never had an avg that big. FWIW looked up UNCs starting OL last season (game notes from bowl game), which I assume was the best OL JMU faced all season, and listed avg was just under 6'5", 303..

Fun Fact: Dqmarcus is pronounced like "Damarcus" or "D'Marcus". Also, I learned that his favorite food is pizza.

Yeah, the silent Q gets me every time.

I'd rather have size on OL than not, but size does not guarantee successs. While I'm optimistic about next year's line, I also still think it's next year biggest concern due to lack of experience.

Last year's line was great, but it was also benefited by the passing game. Running and passing complimented each other since we were very good in both phases. It was a great season.

Your concern is shared by many of us. Until we see that the offense can pick up from where they left off last season the jury is out. Playing on the road against a FBS opponent to open the season won't necessarily provide a good insight either as to how the team will perform (although I still think JMU beats ECU by 10+}.

Other than a blowout either way, nothing would surprise me about the income of this game.

Heard we might not have the services of Tyree Chavious due to a torn ACL...hopefully not true.

Didn't they JUST start practice... like 2 hours ago? You've got to be kidding me.

well if there's a time to get injured, it's in the off-season. then the next man up can at least fully participate as a starter in preseason camp. that hurts o-line depth when it was already bad.

Well, hope it's not season ending serious. When you lose 3 starters on the line to graduation, it's nice to have someone step in that has meaningful game experience.

Greg Madia‏
@Madia_DNRSports

Some tough news for JMU on Day 1 of camp… OL Tyree Chavious is out for the year with a torn Achilles, coach Mike Houston said.

Houston said Chavious tore it about two weeks and has already had surgery. Team hopes to have Chavious back for spring ball.

OK. Now the OL has turned into a real concern. 3 lost starters, plus a 4th lost starter with significant starting experience (basically the last 4 1/2 games, entire playoffs) in addition to all the mop up time he had in the 1st 10 games..

Getting thin on the OL in the experience dept..

Alabama's projected starting 5 on the line is 6'5, 310 lbs. They could have their pick of 350 pound monsters. It is possible to be too big for your own good.
