What is the qb situation at State? I heard that Fant was hurt, then left school, etc. Is York going to be the starter and how is the defense looking so far?
I am trying to make a civil post here. I just want to know in your opinion, how the team is going to look this year.

I know you are hamburglar, it is appreciated. Well Fant did leave school for a bit there, a combination of injuries and other assorted personal problems, but he is back with his head on straight but I do believe that Kyle York is the starter as of now. But when 2 a days start up, that might change. I want to say the defense is ok, but based on what the offense did to them in the spring, whew, we need some work. I think we will be ok though. We are going to be real strong at the running back position, we have a couple of speedsters in Norwood and Turner, hopefully they will be getting the ball much more than they did last year, but they should since both are sophomores and are the featured backs this year. I am cautiously optimistic about the season to be honest with you, though I do have to note that the last time we were picked dead last in the West (1998), we went to the SECCG, so we have that going for us. :D The team is capable of doing that again, I am hoping the injury bug stays away and we play smart football. I have read some good things coming out of Hattisburg of that defense of the Eagles, pretty solid eh?

York looked efficient in the games he came in last year. It looks like he needs to pick up a few pounds though. Also, he looked as if was grasping the offense better as the season progressed. Fant, looked great in that game against Ole Miss a few years ago. However, he has looked different ever since then. Is it because of the offensive play calling or some other reasons. I will have to admit that Jackie has scheduled some tough opponents. The Tulane game is going to be a test for your defense (which is minus Joe Lee Dunn). They have a qb (J.P. Losman) that is a top ten in the nation.
Our defense appears to be strong again this year. It was good to hear that Rod Davis decided to return. As long as Nix is there as our coordinator, things should go well. I have noticed our weakness is against teams with qbs that can scramble. We have a new offensive coordinator, but still in the one back set. I think going to a two-back set would releive pressure off of D'Angelo or Almond and create holes for the running back.
Its hard to make these posts that are civil. I'm used to being the board's antagonist.

well you still can be, though it is good to actually talk sports every once in awhile. Hey man good luck to the Eagles this year. Do they play TCU there or over here in Fort Worth this year? I might try and check them out.
