Wasserman-Schultz's aides bizarre scheme
http://www.investors.com/politics/editor...to-ignore/

When federal officials arrested Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz's IT aide, Imran Awan, as he tried to flee for his native Pakistan, it was the latest twist to an already twisted scandal involving several House IT workers who possibly stole highly sensitive information from several Democrats. Stranger still has been the Democrats' nonresponse to this unfolding scandal.

Back in February, the Capitol Hill police opened a criminal investigation into Awan and four other House employees who provided IT services for several Democrats, including those serving on the House intelligence, foreign affairs and homeland security committees.
Investigators were looking into whether these employees, who had access to emails and official documents of dozens of Democratic lawmakers, had stolen equipment and sent information to an off-site server. The police immediately shut off their access to the House network.

From there, the story got weirder with every new revelation.
It turned out that the other four being investigated were relatives of Awan — two brothers, his wife, and a sister-in-law. Then we learned that Awan's bothers owed money to a Hezbollah-connected fugitive, and a friend of Awan's had been working at McDonald's before getting hired as an IT professional by Congressional Democrats.

What's more, they were pulling down unusually large salaries of around $160,000, according to the Daily Caller, which is the only news outlet that has been actively pursuing this story. Together, Awan and his family raked in $4 million between 2009 and 2016, the DC reported, for what at times appeared to be "no show" jobs....

Other Democrats have been utterly indifferent to the whole affair. At one point, Rep. Gregory Meeks suggested the police targeted Awan and his bothers because of Islamophobia, the DC reported. That led some congressional staffers to wonder if Awan and company were blackmailing House members with data they'd pilfered.
And, of course, since Democrats don't want this story in the news, the mainstream "news" media have entirely ignored it. Neither the New York Times, the Washington Post nor CNN appear to have published a single story on this case since it broke five months ago.
What does this all add up to? Nobody knows at the moment. Once the FBI is able to examine the equipment Awan tried to destroy, we might learn more about the parameters of this strange and troubling case. Until then, it would be helpful if Democrats and the press were to take it seriously and start pressing for answers.

It sounds like a scam with Pakistani family connections used to steal. I knew a company where they were scammed by a Pakistani IT company using relatives.

But the Democrats' indifference is odd.

Author calls for a special prosecutor as he believes the FBI is tainted since this appears connected to their botched Hillary Clinton probe. Concern that Awan could be a Pakistani or even al-Qaeda agent. Personally, I think Sessions just needs to do his job. Article doesn't accuse or implicate Democrats, but raises some interesting questions:

There are a lot of shoelaces to be tied up here.  Among them:

Why did Debbie Wasserman Schultz keep this man in her employ right up until he was arrested Tuesday night when he has been under suspicion for months.  Does he have something on her or other people?

Why did Nancy Pelosi lie when she said she never heard of Awan? Email revealed by Wikileaks says Awan had access to Pelosi's iPad. (Wiklileaks has never been shown to be inaccurate.)

What is on the smashed hard drives Awan is trying to retrieve from the FBI?  (Oh, those Democrats and their hard drives.)

Why is Awan suddenly being legally represented at the highest level by Clinton ultra-loyalist Chris Gowan -- a fact-checker for Bill Clinton's memoir of all things? (They are already using the same right-wing conspiracy baloney they used in the Lewinski case.)  Does this make sense if Awan's just a low-life fraudster? Why not let him dangle?

Just what is the relationship, if any, between the Awan case and the unsolved Seth Rich murder?  Is it entirely an accident that Debbie Wasserman Schultz's brother Steven is accused of blocking the investigation? Denials from Debbie aren't worth much anymore.

Where did the Wikileaks come from anyway? Was it really Russia?

It's not odd at all. They are completely indifferent to anything that doesn't involve fake Russians.

The Pakistanis took high salaries for their work, so a kickback scheme could have been at play, where the Demos were possibly getting Fed money for free with a scheme.

I guess its not their own money that was getting stolen.

Yup. And such a demise would be greeted with a yawn from the press.

More detail from the WSJ. There is either a money laundering scheme involving lots of Democrats or Barbara Boxer was the smartest Democrat in Congress! Just really amazing what this guy got away with. And he could easily have been sending information to the Pakistan secret service which has been helping the Taliban.
