The I35 corridor is real. WSU is just getting a jump-start on student-recruitment.

RE: WSU billboard
For a year before our game, there was a huge hO-Uston billboard near UH's campus on I-45. I think it came down the same day we took out the Sooners.

That said, couldn't the billboard you just posted be for a sex shop?

I hope their dues are paid up before they go wasting money like this.

Wichita State offers in-state tuition along the I-35 corridor, including Oklahoma City and Dallas. Our current administration is growth-oriented. The move to the AAC was considered a huge plus for attracting students. I expect there will be some student recruitment in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

It's mainly meant to increase enrollment. Our president wants us to get up over 20,000 students.

Do you already have the facilities to support that enrollment hike or are there projects in progress/being planned?

We are in the middle of a $250 million "Innovation Campus" that is supposed to support the growth. Personally I think we need to build another dorm in addition to the newly constructed Shocker Hall in order to house the extra students, but I obviously don't know all of the figures.

RE: WSU billboard
WSU is poised for massive growth. We had an 18-hole golf course (former country club) on campus and recently shut that down for expansion. An Innovation Campus is being set up that is a public-private co-operative with businesses setting up on the condition they set up internships for students. It's mostly technology and engineering.

Private companies are building housing designed for students. We have an aerospace company moving onto campus who will share research and development with WSU's Engineering School. In medical, we have research going into adapting composites used in aerospace for use as joint replacements, as those composites are highly non-reactive.

We're in the early stages of a 160-acre campus expansion (1/2-mile x 1/2 mile).
