Unlucky is certainly a good way to describe it if what Whitehead is claiming is true. He says he was never arrested and wasn't even in Virginia at the time of the incident. His agent showed that he had a plane ticket that didn't arrive into the area until much later in the day. Which is the reason why he claims he never showed for court, because he said he was never arrested in the first place.

On top that as I was driving into work this morning, I was listening to DC101 and a girl called into the show and said that she went to highschool with Whitehead and that she had just gotten off work and had stopped at the WaWa where it went down and stated that the person they arrested definitely wasn't Whitehead.

Unless this was a case of the worst example of keystone cops whoever was arrested should have been finger printed. Bizarre case.

The report I read said it was at a gas station for less than $200 of merchandise.

Whitehead got cleared and the cops say they misidentified the person who committed the crime

Since reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, I'll explain. My response was to the previous poster's statement of our culture having a "guilty until proven innocent" mentality. Whether you can see it or not, this mentality has been perpetuated by the police state in this country and the media runs with the mindset because they are the "police".

The police incorrectly identified a criminal and now an innocence guy has to suffer the consequences.

The guilty until proven innocent problem is a societal issue driven largely by the news media and social media. Oh and by stupid people who are sheep.

Some of you are freaking idiots if you think this country is a police state. Anyone who wants to really see what a police state looks and feels like I would be happy to hook you up with a visit to one. I swear some people really don't even get it...how good we have it here. Wow.

But to get more specific to this case I looked further into it. I would like to know how this situation equals police state? A robbery is committed and a person without ID is arrested. Y'all please let know if robbery is ok and shouldn't be prosecuted in this "police state" of ours. The bad guy provides verifiable information to the police which is then entered into a law enforcement data base (because you know a crime was committed). That information - which we now know was clearly stolen allowed for the police officers to issue a citation and court appearance date. So Whitehead now has a citation for which he is obliged to appear in court. Once the information is provided to the police department that he indeed was not the one arrested all charges are dropped and the PD even apologized to Mr. Whitehead (even though that probably wasn't necessary). So, I'm just having a hard time seeing how this is an example of a police state - which is becoming more clear most of y'all probably really don't even understand what it means. So, please educate my obvious ignorance how this situation is an example of a police state.
