That would be the best part of being in the AAC. Only a pipe dream.

If JMU were to get into the AAC, I would do back flips from Richmond to Harrisonburg.

JMU has signed a few recruits over the years that were offered by ECU. The most impactful I can remember is Arthur Moats who went on to star at JMU and is now in his 8th NFL season with the Bills and Steelers.

With that being said, Most of the current JMU roster was not offered by ECU despite being in their recruiting territory. I think there may be a few due to Kirkpatrick's connections when he was at ECU. Yet JMU is the early Vegas favorite for the Sept 2nd game.
What is ECU doing wrong?

There have been a lot of offers going out. I'm not sure if some are partials (I'd think they are) but here's the theme I've noticed. A lot of the guys JMU has offered also have offers from Army, Navy, and several of the Ivies. So, they aren't recruiting dummies. The other schools that seem to pop up a lot in addition are basically all of the MAC, Marshall, Wake Forest, Charlotte, Temple, UVA, ODU, Coastal, and Liberty.
