Satterfield Gone
Gone from Boone to attend media day. Wanna discuss media day here, or chastise me? I should be able to stream most of the events tomorrow.

It might happen, but this is a bigger news story. SBC media day.

There is more to life than money. However, football is not a good idea to get that mentality. Football is quick to get rid of a coach that's not living to expectations no matter how much of a legend they are. Nick Sabah is 2-3 seasons of missing a bow game away from letting him go. It happens and any coach that doesn't think about taking the money when it's there is crazy in my mind. Idk how much he makes at App, but he would get probably 3 millionish at Ole Miss. That's big money to turn down for loyalty.

Of course there is, but we're not talking about going from $50,000 a year to $80,000 here with significantly more hours and stress. If you get a job that guarantees several million over a few years things like hours worked and stress and difficulty don't come into play.

Said no coach under the age of 60 ever that was a real candidate for a multi million dollar job. Nor has any wife of a coach said that either.

Keep believing that hokey crap. If a 2M+/- pay from a non dumpster fire comes he gone.

If Scott hits all his earmarks he'll earn close to $800K. That ain't bad living in Boone. As he has said numerous times itt also depends on the circumstances. How much is it worth to go someplace paying you a ton of cash with a ton of demands? Esp if you're starting from scratch. I guess that answer is different for everyone.

I realize you know more than anyone in the country about these things, but I've got 25 years worth of relationship with Scott and know him pretty well. He could very well leave at the end of the season, but it will be a special situation. He won't be like Fritz looking for the first plane ticket out of town. Beth is Satterfield is probably our best weapon at keeping Scott. She is about the most non materialistic person on this earth. Is from the NC mountains and has loads of family nearby, She loves raising her children there and has a chairitable ministry in Boone. Don't know if you're married or not, im guessing no, but the old saying is true. Happy wife, Happy life!

Yes the special situation being offered multi generational life changing money for his family...Like I said no coach under 60 and not to a dumpster fire. Most dumpster fires cant pay 2M plus Fritz clearly stated age was an issue but Tulane did not throw 2M+ either. No young DIV I coach I have ever heard of said their life goal was to make less than 1M and never have a realistic shot at winning a NC...but he may be different.

As far as the wife what you say is true. What is also true is money does not buy happiness but it is a great down payment. She can also do a ton more charitable work with he husband making 2M+.

As much coach speak CTS says about liking being close to home, family and loving GS his goals likely do not end at being a G5 coach and I dont blame any coach for that. I hope we are having our coach hired away by big time programs that pay at the top actually.

There's more to life than money when you don't have to worry about money to live life. Otherwise, you're still concerned about money.

The amount of money Scott has been making, is making and will be making at App is more than enough to set he & Beth up for the duration.

Somewhat off topic: I liked Taylor Lamb's comments about choosing to play at a good program at a non-power-5 team as opposed to P5 teams that don't win. You can tell he earned an appreciation for non-major football by being Bobby Lamb's son.

Ther are some glaring differences in the two situations. Summers played at PC and coached at 5 other for 10 years, only spending 2 years at GA So prior to being named HC. Summers has a combined 3 years in Statesboro.

Satterfield was a highly successful QB at App and has only been away from App 3 years since the day he walked on campus as a freshman. He was on JM's staff 12 years - including being the OC & Assoc Head Coach - before being named HC. Scott has spent a combined 21 years in Boone.

CTS could have been born on the 50 yard line at Paulson stadium and been raised in a luxury suite, played every snap of his college career, made his way up from towel boy to HC and he is gone in a New York second if an above average P5 with 2M+ plus offers is presented to him. His real family and life goals come well ahead of an Alma mater and memories. He is not going to leave for Tulane or a dumpster fire P5 as he is not nearly 70 but let a VT levelish P5 that atleast has potential to become nationally relevant come with the Brinks truck and I will try and refrain from saying I told you so. Until then enjoy having a good coach and hope your AD does well on the next hire. 07-coffee3
