Their OOC schedule is very weak this year with ULM, and Georgia State, which are both rebuilding, lower tier Sun Belt teams, and Southern Illinois of course is out of the FCS. There is a significant difference between teams like Arkansas State and Appalachian State and ULM and Georgia State. I do give them credit for playing at Georgia State. Playing Home and Homes with Schools in the region is good for the program, and good for recruiting. Georgia State will have a unique home field advantage at the old Turner Field, and will be improved, record wise, when compared to the 2016 campaign.

Initially, I thought UCLA would beat Memphis, but after further review, I think the fact that the game is in Memphis, and UCLA's inability to settle on an offensive scheme gives Memphis the advantage. Memphis's senior laden offensive should be a deciding factor. The only question mark is which Josh Rosen shows up? This game along with USF's game against Illinois give the American the best chance to garner P5 scalps in 2017.

In conference, the only games I see that will be significantly challenging will be @Houston, and @Tulsa, both on weekday nights. Houston will likely be adjusting to a new coach, and there will be growing pains in year one under Major. Tulsa on the other hand should be firing on all cylinders, and will have settled in, after a tough OOC where they will be challenged, and will have taken a few lumps. This bodes will for conference play, and makes Tulsa a serious threat to Memphis.

If Memphis can win these conference road games, they will sail through to the Championship Game, and likely host USF.

Hasn't UCF beaten Memphis the last like ten times in a row? Maybe get past week two first, then we can talk.

Memphis has struggled against East Carolina for years. This year will be no different and they no longer can avoid ECU. The best thing Memphis ever did for their football program was getting ECU off their schedule. We're back!!!!

05-nono The past outcomes in football have no bearing on a future outcome just as past outcomes in basketball had no bearing in UCF's pummeling of Memphis in last year 's AAC Tourney.

We've lost 7 straight to ECU and 9 straight to UCF. We've got to go to Houston. We play at Tulsa and they whooped our ass last year. We've yet to show any ability to stop Navy's option. Also, we get to play UCLA. I'll believe we'll go undefeated when I see it.

The West is so unpredictable this year. It's going to be a dog fight to the finish. Developing QB's and staying healthy will be major factors.

Awesome!!! Series is 15-6 with the Pirates taking the last 7 so occasionally we have lost to the Tigers. As I said before it was smart to get the Pirates of the schedule to build up the Tigers program. I love we're predicted to finish 5th to get our guys motivated. We are being heavily underestimated. We will see, but I do know at this point there have been a lot of changes going on in the Pirate Program this offseason making the Pirates a much better program. Especially on our defensive front and backfield that will make a difference this year. We will have our best defensive backfield I have seen which dates back to 83. Don't expect last years 3-9 Pirates when we come calling. It will be fun to watch!!!!

Good to see that you're saying an undefeated AAC champ is assured of the NY6 bid. I think we all agree with that.

For a 1 or 2 loss AAC champ, we're probably about to split hairs on "assured"...

Facts are, history has shown, the AAC champ doesn't have to be undefeated to get that bid, and it ain't dependent on OOC schedule.

Fact: Prior to 2016 conference championship games, the CFP committee was talking about a 2-loss AAC team overtaking undefeated WMU because of quality wins; those quality wins were AAC wins over Houston, Memphis, and Tulsa, not the win over a down ND, and the two losses weren't even P5 (one AAC loss and a loss at Air Force in Air Force's SuperBowl).

Fact: 2015, with one AAC loss Houston was a LOCK over G4 champs - that wasn't the Houston with top-5 Oklahoma and Louisville wins, their lock was because of AAC wins.

AAC champ doesn't need to be undefeated, which is pretty much untrue of any G4 not Boise Community College and Trucking School.

So, okay, now split hairs about "assured" but P6 conference schedule means the AAC champ is in the discussion undefeated or not.

Considering you only stated two 'facts', both of which 'facts' are actually opinions, with 50% of stated opinions being very arguable, I would say we could both agree that there is simply not enough data for either debater to make a definitive statement.

It will be tough for a 12-1 USF or 12-1 Memphis to get the bid over a 12-1 Boise, SDSU, WKU, Toledo, Colorado State, Wyoming, or MTSU due to the weak schedules of both AAC teams. But these are hypotheticals that are to early to even debate.

It will be a hot night in Boca.

Navy football can be beaten. Navy can be flat out-athleted by any number of teams. Navy football doesn't get out conditioned.

If you think S.Fla is hot, then you haven't spent August on the Chesapeake.

I got back to Anne Arundel County less than 24 hours ago from a trip home to the Treasure Coast. People were like "Hot enough for you?" and my teenage daughters laughed at them because it was 10 degrees hotter and just as humid in Maryland.
