I watched the whole thing live, all the way to the end. It was definitely boring, until the last few hands. Ott was down to about 8 big blinds, and was down something like 10 to 1 in money, then won a couple of double ups, and on the last hand, was about to do it again, and get back to about 2:1 down, which would have given him a great chance.
But Blumstein drew out on him on the river, with one of 2 deuces, to win it right there. Pure luck at the end, but Blumstein outplayed Ott all night, partly b/c he had such a huge chip lead. But of course, he had to play well to get there, so it's a great win for him. Ott also is a college grad, from Penn State. Both are 25.

SMU alum David Williams was at the final table of the WSOP in the mid 2000s. I can't remember exactly where he finshed

He's maybe my favorite player ever. He came in 2nd in 2004.

I was in the room for part of the heads-up match. Someone was waving a Temple flag every time Blumstein won a hand. I don't know if it made onto television.

I saw it on TV a few times. I was wondering if it had anything to do with the WSOP or just some guy with a flag like Washington State on College Gameday.

You're right. I just looked it up. He won $3.5 million for coming in SECOND! And that was in 2004. That is insane. He won another tournament a few years later for $1.5 million. That is crazy money.
