The Gist: A guy at UCF posted his ex-girlfriends apology letter, which he graded and gave it a ‘D’ for repetition and bad handwriting. She filed a cyber-bulling claim with UCF.

This was going to delay his final year and graduation, as well as during that final year, he had to create presentations and write papers on how his behavior impacted others, as a part of his probation.

What’s sad is that the girl’s full name was never disclosed, nor was she a student at the University of Central Florida, but she filed the claim there anyways. So no one knows who she is or where’s she’s from, but now she gets to actually mess up his life, because her feelings were hurt.

Luz’s attorney argued that this was a violation of his First Amendment rights to free speech, and they went after the university on the grounds that they had no grounds.

And can you guess what? Luz’s lawyer was right.

UCF reversed their decision and that he wasn’t going to suspended. While they don’t condone what he did, they can’t enforce the suspension as it wasn’t their student that had their feelings hurt.

And also, First Amendment and free speech, and all those fundamental rights. Yeah, a school should kinda be familiar with those.

Feelings matter.

Also, bullying is typically a repeated behavior, not a one off criticism.

The guy is still a douche for doing that.
