There are no doctors or hospitals close by. The whole community get their basic health care needs from that place from breast cancer screening and so forth. Defunding Planned Parenthood clinics would hurt communities in Alaska, Maine and several other states. That is why some of these Republican Senators are bulking at defunding the funds. They are looking out for the best interests of their people for their health care needs. Those Planned Parenthood in those communities do hire doctors and nurses to help cover all those things that have nothing to do with abortions.

No. They refer you to all those doctors and hospitals that "aren't close by". In all their clinics, they don't have a single mammogram machine. They aren't community health care clinics. They aren't even minor emergency facilities. They do pap smears, "family planning", treat STD's, distribute contraceptives and murder babies. That's just about it.

Cut your arm off in one of them rural communities. See if they treat you or call an ambulance. Heck, go in and complain about an aching back, headaches, belly ache, hearing or sight loss, blood pressure, insulin levels, addiction, a cheating wife or a dead cow. They aren't going to be of any help. They aren't a "basic community health care" provider. If they see you at all, they're gonna tell you to get in your car and drive that distance to an actual doctor.

Which is all the reason we need not to do it.

What makes you think the Democrats won't nuke the filibuster to get single payer if that's what they want (you never know how much they are talking the talk and will actually walk the walk-i.e. see the Republicans and repealing Obamacare).
