I like it. Black on black for the mid November home game? Yep! This means that we have 9 different uniform combinations. Doc is also bringing back the players' names on the backs of their jerseys.

The only thing that I'm not big on is removing "The Herd" from the road jersey and replacing it with "Marshall"...

I'm looking forward to Southern Miss using some of it's retro early 90's jerseys this year. Stoked!

Here's Ito Smith wearing one. I love the big letters and numbers!

That's right. Just the white. We did have a green version back in 2009, I believe. Id like to bring back the green and add a black helmet..

Some of the fanbase are throwing hissy fits over the black. I personally dont care if they run out in green jock straps and taped on pads as long as we win.

From 1998-2013, we only had four uniform combos. We primarily wore green-on-white at home and white-on-green on the road, with the all-greens and all-white reserved for the big games. In 2014, when Nike was retooling the uniform, we lost the ability to wear white-on-green as the green in the jersey no longer matched the exact shade in the pants, so we have primarily an all-green or all-whites since then.

I do like that the white jersey returns to our traditional number font and black outline. I don't care for the style mismatch of "Marshall" on one set and "The Herd" on the others (I guess it's like the baseball tradition that you wear your nickname on the home jersey and the city name on the road). The added black sleeves was done to try to make the black pants work with it, but I think the black sleeves with the white and green pants look terrible. I think incorporating black into the road uni's in unnecessary for Marshall, especially if the black jerseys top is going to continue to be associated with the home game closest to the plane anniversary.

Yes, we've ran with the exact same helmet design since 1995, with only a slight change to the M in 2010 to match the more curved edges of the "M" that the university made to the logo.

Since 2013, we replace the M on one side of the helmet with a "75" on the weekend closest to the plane crash anniversary.


Also in 2013, we wore a flag themed M helmet in the Military Bowl game when we beat Maryland. Since then, we've worn the American flag "M" one game a year to honor veterans.

Need to find some hearts to put those Jerseys over....

Black uniforms are played out and about as original as a couch in a house. Glad they're dumping THE HERD. They need to dump that shiddy logo from earth. As far as helmets there is one and that's all that's needed.

There is something to that. If you constantly see that same big "M" on the helmet on TV that's how you build brand.

Of course you need a conference commissioner that can actually get you on TV.

Or maybe a good enough team(s) that TV will want to show your games. Some of us haven't had any problem getting games shown on TV.

No one in this league is or has gotten half of its games on broadcast national TV in recent years. ESPN3 and CBSSN don't count.

What do you mean it doesn't count? It's a TV channel on my Directv guild . It's a TV station listed on my son's specturm TV guild. It's a TV channel that's shown CUSA conference championship game and Semifinals over the years.

Stop being silly.

Again if your school failed to get on TV it's probably because they weren't that attractive.

Speak for yourself. In 2014, every one of Marshall's 14 games were on ESPN, FS1 or a regional Fox Sports Net, or CBSSN. If we'd play in the championship and bowl game this year (ie, take care of business), then we'd have 5 games though ESPN distribution this year... not too shabby for a team in a league with a terrible deal with them.

I don't have CBSSN at my house or on campus. I've grown to hate the channel because a lot of good G5 games end up there and I can't watch them.

Ironically awhile back when Marshall redid the "M" logo and designed and copyrighted their own "M" it was EVERYWHERE except the football helmets which had an old block M. It stayed that way for years after. Finally they updated the helmets to have the new M and it was perfect. All the talk about branding and recognition yet Marshall used the old M on the most recognizable sport. Which is also why I despise the "THE HERD" logo. Now all Marshall faithful refer to Marshall as THE HERD. It's common. However, it should t be the main logo that is on everything. We're Marshall. We're the Thundering Herd and yes The Herd but its overused and shouldn't dominate.

Like overused and now unoriginal black uniforms. Next thing they will do is have a lameass unoriginal chrome helmet.

Either has Marshall. Every game was broadcast last year. I'm sure I'll watch every game I'm not at this year too.

Live streaming may not count but it is available to anyone not living in 1985. Same really goes for CBSSN too.
