1. App State - plenty good to begin with and the easiest schedule they could hope for

2. Troy - I don't think they're dominant, but hard to argue with past success and three years worth of a coach/QB combo

3. Arkansas State - I honestly don't think they will finish here, but they find ways to win every year

4. South Alabama - I'm tempted to put them lower, but Dallas Davis is a tough S.O.B. and the defense should be good.

5. Georgia Southern - If Cook gets the offense back on track, rumors of the Eagles' demise will have been wildly overstated. Still plenty of talent.

6. UL Monroe - Call me crazy, but I liked what I saw at the end of 2016 and the Warhawks have some winnable conference games early on.

7. Idaho - Great season last year. Linehan is back and will be good, but a lot was lost in other places. Still a possible bowl team.

8. UL Lafayette - The Cajuns aren't starved for talent, but it will be tough to replace a QB and star RB off of what was a mostly average team

9. New Mexico State - Honestly just don't know. I know some people are high on them, but I'm not knowledgeable enough about the Aggies to see bright spots.

10. Georgia State - No one went to their games back when November home dates occurred at room temperature. A new coach without much more talent leads only to more scenic photos of losses

11. Texas State - Maybe they're taking notes from the soon-to-be World Series champion Astros... You have to REALLY bottom out if you want the best possible bounce-back

12. Coastal Carolina - Get'em while they're down. They lost too many contributors to pull an App or GS in their first year, but I seriously doubt they'll be in the cellar next season.

I'm thinking the QB we're replacing shouldn't have been the QB last year at all as he really didn't help us. That being said, we're starting with someone who showed a lot of promise the year before and was expected by most to be the starter last year. If he can get a pass in the general area of our receivers running their various routes he will be an improvement.

Are y'all high on Jordan Davis? I watched him in HS and was never impressed. He couldn't even go over 1k passing yards. The backup at KO was actually Bette Than him. Maybe he has progressed.
