RE: Non-Smartass Priorities for USM Athletics...
1) Get some regional-ish league going with the best of Sun Belt and CUSA. Not sure if this is possible with NCAA regulations and conference credits though.

2) Upgrade RGC.

3) Increase our athletic budget from 25mil to around 35mil.

1. Improve conference (whatever that involves).
2. Reed Green
3. IPF
4. Increase coaches salaries (i.e., attract better coaches)

move 2 to 1 and find/invest those dollars in developing a multipurpose facility that can generate revenue year round....what a wasted op that one has become....

I'm a broken 33.3 rpm on this one....

3-2-1 countdown for the rendering to pop up.....McGillis had that one right IMO....

It would be used to support USM stuff, motocross races, Monster Truck events, wrestling, rodeos and ladies auxiliary functions where USM would get a cut of the proceeds to fix all the stuff on these lists.

RE: Non-Smartass Priorities for USM Athletics...
1)AD needs to spend the next 6 months behind a closed door scheduling a total of 50 home and road games over the next 5 years starting in 2018 against schools like ECU, Memphis, Houston, USF, UCF, BYU, Navy, Tulsa, Army, UMASS, Northern Illinois, Purdue, Iowa State, Temple, Minnesota, Ohio, Miami of OH, Liberty, Wyoming, Nevada, CSU, GA State, Aky State. Even if they are 2-1 with 2 on the road.....just schedule them.....in addition to 1 SEC school on the road and 1 FCS school at home. Schedule at least 2 diamonds....a game at USC (California)...a game in Oklahoma.....a game against Texas.......just a couple of diamonds that would raise a recruits eyes.

2) Work with the Radio, Television and Film Department to create an online USM Sports and Academic Channel where you can stream live content. Work with Twitter, FB, Google, etc....to discuss a full university partnership. Put this department in charge of all social media aspects of USM athletics. Sell advertising banners and commercial time to any and all Hattiesburg, Jackson, New Orleans, Mobile, Gulfport, Biloxi, Oxfart, Starkville based business. Begin broadcasting USM baseball and softball games in the spring as the initial launch of the All USM content.

3) Schedule a private meeting with our highest donors. Strategize a 10 year plan with these leaders regarding our exit from CUSA.

4) Once above is done, schedule a press conference announcing that USM is saying goodbye to CUSA starting in 2018.

5) AD spends the next 3-4 years working on getting USM and one other school into either the MWC or the AAC. If we fail in a few years.....we fail, on our terms. TV money and current schedule is not enough to just stay in CUSA. Go out and do something different.

the plan (as I remember) was to bring in additional revenue by attracting outside entertainment as they were on their way to the coast for a one show gig....retractable stage, all chair backs, state of the art video, etc.....

many of the older folk remember frampton, heart, the sugar ray/duran fight, and a ton of country acts that passed through back in the day....

it's simply become a mausoleum at this point that was aptly dubbed the Yurt by Andrea Kremer moons ago during a rare espenis visit when
'Spoon was our stud.....

The group, Arrested Development (Mr. Wendel) had a massive reception at the Yurt.....They actually had more people in the band than in the audience that night......including Mr. Wendel himself.....

#5 only happens if #3 happens....

#4 isn't an option....

All this "move to another conference" talk is pretty pointless as this situation will resolve itself when C-USA implodes. USM will then "move" to somewhere else without having to do all the other ridiculous crap you guys are suggesting

ok, so at least one person has changed their tune and agrees with me that we should go independent. thank you for beginning to see the light.

What an asinine article. I loathe ESPN. Like many today they equate resources with character.
