Exclamation 47 Days to Kickoff... #47 R-Jr. DL Darrious Carter
[Image: carter_darrious_47.jpg?width=300]

Darrious, who hails from Indiana PA, had a big first year after transferring in from UVA. He was especially big in the national championship game registering 2 tackles for loss, a sack, and a fumble recovery. I definitely think he will be on the NFL scouts' radar moving forward. At 6'5" & 235#, he has the kind of frame that can likely put on another 10-15 pounds of muscle and be a terrific rush end in either a 4-3 or 3-4 scheme. I think he can be a down lineman and stand up if needed while covering TE's and RB's if needed. Quite the talent we have in this young man. He is majoring in Accounting per his bio. Good luck to Darrious in his 2nd year wearing purple.

He also had a big game against NDSU. One of many guys that stepped up to the plate and delivered in a big way in what was arguably the most important game of the season. Seems kind of small to be a DL though at only 235, even at this level. Looking forward to seeing him part of the rotation on the line this season.

one of the most underrated players on the team, let alone the defense. if it weren't for he and Martez Stone stepping up in the later part of the season, we wouldn't have won a title.

Sage in his last year was 245 and he was fine at that weight. Really you're starting to see more guys in the high 230's area playing DE if they have the speed around the edge (Which Carter does have)

Didn't realize that Darrious played high school football with Riley Stapleton.

Fun fact: Indiana High School had 4 players in the FCS Championship..... Carter and Stapleton for the Dukes, and Justin Spencer and Cody Squiric for Youngstown State.

You probably will not ever see him try to bull rush a tackle, but he seems to have the moves to lull a tackle into giving up the edge.

Yup, we had little in the way of pass rush early and mid-season. Stone and Carter really came on strong. QB pressure sure makes a secondary look good.

no question. in the words of the great Tim Ryan, "Show me a Pro Bowl DB and I'll show you a Pro Bowl pass rusher playing in front of him."

by the way, i really can't wait until there are 37 days left on this countdown. that thread is going to be great.
