unfortunately, I did a few years ago as a favor to a customer (wait for it...........was SoCal ilk....no joke)

once it's embedded, it's forever.......and it's hardly diamonds or roses......

it's truly scary what I see at times.....such is life....and I know you've seen equal/worse

this is why I joke around more than not.....reality is one #othermotherfucker that hardens the soul.....

edit: he's back in jail for parole violation....go figure

Hey now, I have several tats, none of them exposed like this maroons, but they can be if I wear short sleeves. They didn't hamper my career one bit and I take offense at others judging me by them - although I just judged the guy too stupid to not have one on his face while expecting to find work. One day soon this will not be our world, it will belong to people younger than us, and societal norms will once again shift with tattoos being a 1 on a scale of 1-10 of detriment. It's already taking place as I know all kinds of young, highly paid professionals who sport them. As a defender of the 1st Amendment for me this falls under free expression.

Maybe he could just get the whole thing inked in so it looks like a beard. I wouldn't hire that guy to be dog catcher.

It depends, Tiger... (again, I've never understood the purpose for tattoos, but to each their own.)

But are your tattoos (if they were visible in shirts) something that the general public would get the wrong impression about you or your ability to perform a job? Or are they just various images that might have a personal meaning to you?

But again, if he's out looking for jobs in places that service the public in a face-to-face issue, then he's screwed. The general population doesn't want to see tattoos like that when they're out and about.

If he's in a non-public job location, then it probably won't matter.

Now that being said, when someone says :

Quote:"That's the thing - it's part of who I am
. (yes, I see the end of the quote).

He sounds like he's trying to do everything he can to NOT to have to lose the tattoo first and foremost, even though he got it during a "drinking spree".

In 1987, tattoos were counter culture.

In 2017, tattoos are like 45 year old suburban guys in cargo shorts mowing their lawns.

In his case, or others like him who choose to have tats on exposed body parts that cannot be covered, I agree with you 100%. Yes, mine have special meanings and none are of an offensive nature. One exposes an American flag underneath my skin so... The others are generally reflective of my children and grandchildren's birthdays, zodiac signs and the like. However, I purposefully placed them where they could be easily covered.

Now, about my nipple rings. (I kid I kid!)
