I agree. In the only soccer game I ever attended, a loud roar in the stadium occurred as we were ascending the escalator to our seats. The home team scored within the first minute. We missed it. There were no other scores in the game, just people running around in their skivvies for 59 minutes. Soccer sucks bad.

Soccer is the #1 sport in the world and I appreciate the endurance and skill of the players and marvel at fan's dedication, but I do not like it because it is boring and predictive. Scoring is rare (0-0 games are common) and when it occurs the game is substantially over when a team is up 2 goals.

I like soccer as a whole.

I don't like:
-the off side rule
-that flopping is part of the game (so weak, so European)
-ties (again, so weak, so European. I know NFL has ties but they are not common. In soccer ties are pretty common and part of the game)
-red/yellow cards...let em' play

Well said. Change the offside rule to the extent where scoring is more probably. Perhaps make the goal bigger to make it more difficult for the goalie. As goalie have gotten bigger and more athletic the goal has remained the same size. A big/athletic goalie is nearly impossible to score on.

There are few things more exciting in sports than a scoring opportunity in soccer. A greater conversion ratio would broaden soccer's appeal - at least to Americans and I noticed even diehard soccer fans are excited by goals.

That's the biggest misconception of the sport. Only about 8% of matches across all professional leagues in the world ended in 0-0 draws over the last 10 years according to a SkySports study from last summer. I guess I just find it ironic how the vast majority of people who think soccer is boring tend to be baseball fans. Also, far too many fans seem to forget that college football ended in ties until the late 90's, which for those who have a hard time with history is roughly a century of the sport. Carry on.

I stand corrected, thank you. However, a 0-0 score is still a particularly salient example of the futility of ties that occur in soccer that, like college football, should be fixed by soccer organizations.

RE: OT:Official Soccer Sucks Thread
I don't think it sucks, just not a fan. The sport gained a lot of popularity after my childhood, so I never grew up with it.

I would say currently when I attempt to watch the lack of scoring is one of the main reasons I usually turn the channel.

I think soccer averages around 3 goals per game. Baseball currently averages around 8 runs per game.

That number for baseball was probably a run or two lower before they decided to lower the mound, that's just my recollection.
