AAC... Navy is in thr "west"... yeah they may need two schools.

Reasoning for Indy would be that its just football - rest of sporta can stay in CAA until the invite happens...we would avoid the costly SB travel for olympic sports, and we keep those rivalries going until the right conference opens up...

We did it before - football can do it again...totally agree with Longhorn that JMU /odu (or app or even uncc) would be a combo

Scheduling would be hard but doable...I'd think we get:
- 2 FCS
- Umass, Liberty, ODU
- 2 P5 (we already have them scheduled out a few years, need one more)
- 1 to 2 each from mac/cusa/SB and we are set

JMU can make it work

I was up at West Point t yesterday playing golf with my dad who is a retired officer. Had the pleasure to drive by michie stadium which is a fantastic venue and would love a game up there. Beautiful location one hour from NYC and actually a great golf course that is up to par with many country clubs and is open to the public.

Get it done Jeff.

Like I said, Clemson just scares me. They've always had a really good program but they've taken that last leap into juggernaut status. Then again, they did have a few nail biters last year.

Temple would be another good one but not likely because every time they schedule an FCS game it seems to be against 'Nova or Penn which makes sense.

As crazy as it sounds, I don't think we've ever played Penn in football. At least not in the last 40 years. I think Nova and Delaware are our most common FCS opponents, although we don't play Delaware anymore because I think they wanted a home and home. We've also played Fordham, Delaware State, Stony Brook in the last 10 years. We have Nova and Bucknell on future schedules.

Guess I got the Penn thing wrong but yeah, you've played 'Nova several times and play them again this year. Gotta think if you're a season ticket holder you'd rather see JMU than Bucknell.

I see close to 0 chance JMU moves up as an Indy because of the huge hurdles.
You better have a ton of $$$$, and/or a 9 to 10 figure net worth sugar daddy(s) to write monster donor checks. LU certainly has more $$ than JMU..
-More difficult to schedule. Instead of coming up with 4 OOC games a year/2 home, you have to do 12/6 home. Sure you could have a year or 2 when you put together a really good schedule. But try to do that year after year after year after year.
-No conference TV tie in.
-No conference bowl tie in
-Think it would be more difficult recruiting.

After all, name the I-AA that have moved up as an Indy and been successful?

I will chase your red herring....03-wink

Does jmu no longer trail blaze?

Arkansas St, Louisiana Tech, Uconn, Troy, UAB, UCF, USF....have all done it...no NCs but thats putting the bar a bit high...Do you not believe JMU can do it?

There are access bowls during our I years

We know it would be difficult...and take some $$ ... but While its a level down, we were independent for 15 years- always had a full schedule.

The case we were solving for was "how do we get our first invite to be AAC?".... id say Indy is the only way!

Regionally I like Temple, Army and Navy. Playing Temple at the Linc would be very cool, and as '98 mentioned, the backdrop for college football and the location is great at West Point for NYC alumni. Its pretty easy to get up there from Philly too. The experience in Annapolis is awesome - that is a #3 though because we've been there done that.

Well, I'm a season ticket holder, and other than stomping the **** out of Nova, I'd rather we didn't play any FCS programs. The only reason we do is to ensure that bowl eligibility is easier to obtain, and playing you guys doesn't make it a guaranteed win, so it's pretty much a lose-lose situation for us. I think it would be better to play bottom B1G programs, and CUSA and MAC programs than FCS programs anyway.

In case you all didn't believe me that UVA only schedules 3 FCS schools.

Makes sense. They get the best wine cooler and cheese recommendations from those 2 fanbases. When I say "they", I am of course referring to all 27 of their fans.
