Haven't seen it posted earlier, but here's the story on Thompson being nominated for the All-State Good Works Team.

This kid deserves big things. Can't wait to see him and Woodside in action this year!

Thompson and Jon'Vea Johnson both on the Biletnikoff watch list.

Thompson also on the watch list for the Wurfell trophy, for community service.

I'm a little concerned about the TE position--Roberts was the "go to guy" for any 3 and long situation.

Watch Jamal Turner's Senior Highlights. 6'6" 230 with a decent vertical. Look what he can do and the mismatches he can create. Decent route runner and stays low when he blocks.

RE: Work ethic drives UT's Thompson
You know it wasn't long ago that you heard people saying, geesh with Zmolik graduating, the TE position is gonna be a weak spot ... and then Roberts came along with his record breaking season. Literally no one was predicting that before the season started. Every year, new and unexpected guys are given the opportunity to step up and many of them do, it's the nature of college sports.

As people have pointed out, last season it was reported that Fisher was pushing Roberts for the #1 TE spot until he got injured. Bradley made some big plays in the spring game this year too. The TE position will continue to benefit from the fact that defenses have to pay attention to Thompson, and J Johnson and D Johnson first. I think it will be ok.

I'm sure he has the athletics but I think it's a lot to expect a Fr come in, learn the playbooks and route running well enough to be reliable against an experienced defensive player. I'm hoping an upper classman can come in and at least somewhat give that option Roberts gave. If not? I'm sure some other position will step up unexpectedly. Seems to happen every year.

RE: Work ethic drives UT's Thompson
thompson is a wonder. hope he stays healthy and we push him for all american.

TE is gonna OK. Kulon is healthy and a big strong blocker in his 5th yr. Other younger players have begun to mature and have played behind an NFL guy. so, they know the expectations.

there's always a few true frosh that star or become good role players at some point. often, they are not the big recruits. guys like teacher and thompson, diontae johnson and blue, were all under the radar recruits that played right away. eric page, anybody?

Curious as to why the article doesn't mention the Biletnikof Award?

Don't know, but Cody's still on the watch list; so is Jon'vea Johnson.
