It's hilarious watching the GOP fail to produce any meaningful legislation

If it has what is being reported?....The ability for me to buy high deductible.. low cost catastrophic insurance? Im IN. If I can reduce my monthly outlay by 50%? I can save the $3500 difference to more than cover my regular doctors visits and meds. It is a no brainer for me. 2 checkups and a med that costs me $200 a year(full price) is not going to scratch a dent in $3500. I would just set up my own HSA and be fine. Im more than capable of handing even a 10 to 50K or higher.. deductible if something bad happens.

I don't get the Republicans who may not even let it come to the floor. Especially the ones not named Rand. They are basically filibustering their own party's bill. They should be stripped of all committee chairs and beaten in the primaries. That doesn't mean they have to vote for the final product, but they shouldn't be filibustering.

RE: What's in the new Senate Repeal and Replace?
It looks like it will allow for

1) Insurance companies to offer 'nothing sandwich' polices so long as they offer some policy open to all that offers 'more' coverage. But then it allows the states to define how much 'more' these policies should cover. In Texas, the 'more' policy probably won't cover ER visits or anything more than aspirin.

These 'more' policies will be more expensive than the 'nothing' policies, so that the only people that will purchase the 'more' policy will be sick people. This will make the 'more' policies uneconomical and they will face massive rate increases in years 2 -4.

Net result, a backdoor tax on pre-existing conditions. That's even if there's a policy at all available for any price that covers people with pre-existing conditions for their pre-existing condition.

2) Allows for the creation of small business groups to negotiate for health care. But it allows for these groups to deny membership to people and businesses based upon their pre-existing conditions.

3) Gives millions in tax cuts to the insurance industry, with no accountability or clawback if they don't increase affordable coverage.

4) Exempts members of Congress and their staffs from the exchange policies.

5) Allows for truly MASSIVE cuts to Medicare, and opens the door for cuts to Medicaid.

6) Allows for 20 percent across the board increases in premium prices next year. Allows for 75 percent premium increases for older Americans by allowing exchange policies to charge 5 times (rather than the current 3 times) to older persons than younger ones.

7) Allows for expanded use of tax deductions for premiums paid. This won't help the millions of Americans that cant afford the new, more expensive policies.

8) A massive tax cut for the wealthiest Americans

^ Mental illness.

The word 'Medicare' is only found 6 times in the entire bill, 3 of which are just referring to CMS. Please elaborate on the TRULY MASSIVE cuts to Medicare that are being proposed.

P.S. This is why you lose.

Yea, I don't get this either.

Give the people what they want!...

Cruz has made good inroads and if they don't completely F#%@ this up, they'll/we'll have time to distill this down and make it work.

Now? If let to go to it's clear resolution? A disaster. As designed.

Better to get something in the works and keep working. Otherwise we have a pre-planned wreck on our hands.

RE: What's in the new Senate Repeal and Replace?
Cruz part could actually get him voted out of office. How many people that are Republicans that have cancer and all that? Their bill will skyrocketed to just get covered, and could be even worst than Obamacare.

There are people with different types of disabilities. Some with spinal cord diseases that could be deadly, would have a cut back on their Medicaid to a point that they can't get proper care. That is why state Government are bucking Mitch McConnell. There are a lot of good in Obamacare that protects the most vulnerable, but under Trumpcare, the protections are strip because of Rand Paul and Ted Cruz side of the isle.

I'm with paul on this... We've had about 3 versions go through discussions, each of which has been getting a "little" cleaner along the way.

We'll get to a point where the Lee's and Cruz's of the world know that they'll have gotten as far as they can go without a full repeal motion.

So Hell yes, let them keep threatening to filibuster, until McConnell and company get their heads out of their asses.

LOL. There are millions of Texans that have Diabetes or Cancer or some other pre-existing condition. And that's before all the insurance companies make child birth not covered under the 'nothing sandwich' policies, thereby raising health care costs for young families exponentially.

I agree. The longer this takes the more likely we will end up with something workable. I still think it should be scrapped completely.

I agree. The longer this takes the more likely we will end up with something workable. I still think it should be scrapped completely.

The real problem is that Rand and Cruz want 'no healthcare/let them die' and Collins can't survive politically if that passes. Its also possible that Murkowski or Heller are not going to be voting for the Rand/Cruz plan. Twomey is probably in danger if anything like this passes.

My guess is that something gets passed. We won't even know what's in it at all until after it passes.

But I've already started the research into where in California I might have to move to if this passes and I lose coverage. I'm thinking Long Beach.
