Plug it in overnight (non-coal power source) and you have enough range for the next day, just like your phone. No emissions, no oil spills, low maintenance.

Then it's absolutely useless to me.

Tessa actually have 5000 pounds of towing capacity. It's just going to crush your range. That said, I don't think most people are towing boats hundreds of miles.

5000 lbs? LOL When I get the boat I want the boat alone will be over half that before you add motor, tackle, fuel, trailer, etc.

Then it's absolutely useless to me.

And me.

And roughly half the population of the USA.

Not because of the boat per se, but because the range is still too limited.

I can't drive it to Dallas or to visit my family in Alabama. That makes it useless to me. I could use it to commute to work, but if I want to go to Houston for, say, an Astros game in the evening after work, no can do.

I'm 100% in favor of electric cars in the long haul. But they're not ready for many people yet, and not affordable by many others. The only way to solve those issues is from experienced gained by having those for whom they do work, and by whom they can be afforded, purchase and use them. But they're not any kind of reasonable solution for enough people to matter until those issues can be overcome.

Look at the rate of Tesla engine failure and the mileage that they usually go ka-put.

Most families don't use their boat-hauling monster truck for everyday commuting and errands. The Tesla will replace the ICE Ford Tauruses in the multi-car households.

My boat hauler is my daily driver, as is the boat haulers of all my friends and family. My wife routinely has to drive further than the range of the Tesla for her job.

And that time hasn't come yet.

I appreciate those who are giving them a trial, because that is the only way that we will get the actual experiences necessary as one component of the improvement process. But I have no hard feelings toward anyone who doesn't, because at this point there are simply millions and millions of people for whom they make no sense. Like me.

As for a pickup truck, that will be rolling out in 18 to 24 months from April, Musk said.

Quote:Daimler is making inroads to the electrified truck market. The company introduced its eCanter light duty electric truck last September. Since then, it has accumulated over 37,000 miles of testing on public roads in Germany and in Portugal.

Full production will be ready for 2019 – the same year the U.S. electric automaker has committed to bring the Tesla Semi to market.

The eCanter can go about 60 miles on a charge, which is considered to be more than adequate for daily urban deliveries.

I can't even get to the duck hunting club with that.

Wow, 60 miles per charge. Its probably closer to 30 miles if you include your shotgun and if you ate a heavy breakfast.

levity: the infinite wisdom o' 'sip legislature just passed the "newest version of safety" where all the mexicans will be required to be strapped down when they're shipped in the comfort of the "bed"....

one can only laugh at this point....

https://www.usnews.com/news/best-states/...t-belt-law

Quote:JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A new law in Mississippi requires everyone in a car, truck or SUV to buckle up. And, it will have the practical effect of banning people from riding in the beds of pickup trucks.

Starting Saturday, Mississippi is joining the majority of states that require seat belt use for all people in a vehicle, front seat and back. Violation carries a $25 fine, under the law that started as Senate Bill 2724

has tesla figured that one out too???

an electric pick-em up.....I've heard it all now....I live in dum-dum land....

Yeah the price of trucks is absurd. Even a small truck is 30,000 if you want anything other than the base model.

It drives me up a wall when you see this shiny full sized truck with extended bed and extended cab park right next to you at the store. You can't see whose driving about in the parking lot when you're trying to leave your spot. And you know damn well that most of these trucks are not being used for their intended purposes when you see all the chrome accents and the truck is in pristine condition.
