Ari Ince update
Last weekend, at a meet in Pennsylvania, Ari Ince threw the javelin an incredible 61.38 meters (201' 4") for a new lifetime best. This mark is just two centimeters short of the automatic mark (61.40) for the World Championships. However, if there are not 32 automatic marks, the field is expanded to 32, using the descending order list. Right now, she is #23 and looks solid for a trip to London to represent the USA!

The meet was the National Scholastic Sports Foundation American JavFest, held annually in East Stroudsburg, PA.

Results.

And to think, she only started throwing javelin her junior or senior year.

Great news for Ari!

RE: Ari Ince update
The USA announced their team today and Ince was not on it unfortunately (just 1 javelin thrower for the USA women).

Did she not end up in the top 32? It's pretty sad if the USA could have sent her but chose not to.

ETA - this is the list I'm looking at.

Only one male javelin thrower, too. Little love for that event by the USA team honchos, it seems.

Nothing to do with loving the event. There is a qualifying standard and a set number of athletes wanted, and apparently the IAAF adds people to the meet by invitation based on the yearly list of performances if there are not enough people who have met the qualifying standard.

There has to be an IAAF invitation if you haven't met the standard. At least that's how I read the rules they posted.

Have the IAAF invitations been sent out yet?

On Friday's "Last Ditch Throws" meet in Chula Vista, Calif., Ari made three throws over 60 meters, but did not improve on her earlier 61.38 mark.
