You know, I guess I shouldn't be surprised that radical extremists are rewriting climate history given that rewriting history is one of their strategies.

But given how many people who are still alive that actually remember recent history where the coming ice age was pushed heavily makes me consider what lengths they'll go to.

Deception, lies, made up narratives... all in a day's work for the radical left.

Global Warming, Ice Age, it doesn't matter. It's all money flowing to their universities and grants for their research.

I searched around on Time’s website and looked through all of the covers from the 1970s. I was shocked (shocked!) to find not a single cover with the promise of an in-depth, special report on the Coming Ice Age. What about this cover from December 1973 with Archie Bunker shivering in his chair entitled “The Big Freeze”? Nope, that’s about the Energy Crisis. Maybe this cover from January 1977, again entitled “The Big Freeze”? Nope, that’s about the weather. How about this one from December 1979, “The Cooling of America”? Again with the Energy Crisis.

Your link

When did anyone say that there was 'so much news coverage'?

What they said was that it was 'accepted' within the scientific community, academia and 'climate scientists', and put forth by such 'respected' groups as NASA.

That has been proven. All you're asking is why the media wasn't forcing it down everyone's throats... while recent articles against it call it 'media driven;... You guys are LITERALLY talking out of both sides of your mouths.

The difference is that despite the warnings from the scientific community, there really wasn't much money associated with doing anything about it. Business certainly didn't want it and 'the left' wasn't organized on such things... they were more focused on other matters.... like clear air and water/the EPA. Local matters more than 'globalism'. I suspect the advertisers for TIME and the like wouldn't have wanted those headlines... so they didn't happen.

In 2017, nobody buys print anymore and you can get 10x as much 'press' from HuffPo or Reddit as 'Time'.... plus all of the trillions globally involved in promoting the scare.

Does everyone now agree that the environmentalist mantra during the 70s was in fact the coming ice age and current-day "fact checking" denial of that is fake news/rewriting history?

I also clearly remember the 70's Ice Age claims.

Probably not the same stuff you guys used in the 70's to predict the same event that never occurred. Kind of like ALL of Gore's predictions.

Could have easily been Newsweek. My bad. lol...it was a long time ago. That said, Time did a very similar article at that time, it just wasnt the cover. The point is--the science of the day was using models to point toward a coming ice age.

My feelings on the issue are pretty similar to Crieghtons. I think there is some warming. I think the amount of warming is overstated. I think the human contribution to global warming is very small. I think the temperature of the earth naturally fluctuates and the assumption that the average temperatures 20 years ago were "normal" is a complete guess. The earth is millions of years old. I think the earths temperature is always in flux and the 100 years of data we have is about like judging the average height of a human based on seeing one person.

I personally remember reading the article as well. Wasn't necessarily Time. Smokestacks billowing up black smoke on the cover and the question about us creating the next ice age.

Here's a few articles/shows/books about coming ice ages dating back to the 50's.

Quote:The coming of another Ice Age is an event serious scientists have never been able to predict from observable Earth phenomena. For until Ewing and Donn postulated their new Theory of Ice Ages (it was first published in Science in June 1956 and a second report appeared in May 1958) the very nature of the problem seemed to defy the kind of scientific understanding which makes prediction possible.

In 1978 "In Search Of..." did a documentary about "The Coming Ice Age".

most lay dolts cannot understand the eguation unless all variables are solved...

the dippos always conveniently leave out those that define as fact...

I'm a science, physics, and most certianly a 'chemist' nut job...

Every thread in this category has the same ending....stating theories as fact will draw in tree huggin' disco funding....
