MR seems to be a really good kid that has some poor role models in his life. Going to college ...... any college will be huge for this young man and his future. This MR situation goes deeper than recruitment, its getting some stability in the young mans life which will take him a long way
I'll bet a dollar to a doughnut that one day Robinson will look at coming back to WKU and say it is one of the best decisions of his life. A growing up experience.
Agree 100%
And I wonder if you guys - as fans - are going to look back on this a regrettable decision?
When he decided to bail, I had a hunch that it might have been in the best interest of y'all's program and season that he was gone - kind of a like a cancer you had just ridded yourself of only for it to return. Good luck.

If you knew the back story you would get a better understanding of what went down. Mitchell seems to be a good kid with some poor influences that was surrounding him. Those people are no longer in his ear and the young man just wants to play the game he loves. His teammates are welcoming him back from what I understand and they know that he will only give this team a better chance of being really good. Also.... how often do schools at our level have the chance to have a McDonalds All American lottery pick on our team, every team in this league would have taking him back, especially given the situation he was put in and what he could offer.... it only opens the door for more high level recruits in the future

Shades of Tony Mitchell, with a lot of added drama.
Only difference is Tony Mitchell didn't have half the talent of MR.....Not saying that will translate into MR being all world on the court, but MR's starting point, ceiling, etc is way more than a 6-8 Tony Mitchell was...Tony was not an McDonalds All American or ranked 8th nationally coming out of high school, believe his composite ranking was 18, that can make a huge difference...MR is 7-1 and may still be growing, he grew two inches this past year with a wingspan 8 ft....This is something you cannot teach...He is very very raw and may not contribute much on offense, but I would be shocked if the kid does not average at least 3 blocks a game...
As far as chemistry I agree, no one knows how that is going to go until the bullets fly, My guess is our coaches do not know at this point how all of this is going to work out....Impossible for anyone to know....

Eh... Tony Mitchell was an assumed 1st round pick with talk of possible one and done, he might not have been as highly regarded as MR, but I'd submit that the difference in a guy like TM signing in the Sun Belt at a program like North Texas and a guy like MR signing in CUSA at a program like WKU is nominal.

I kinda feel bad for the kid at this point. I hope everything works out well for him. I'm not sure Stansbury is the coach that can maximize his potential, but if he can show bits and pieces, he can leave after a year and be a first round pick.

I'm sure it's nothing compared to what's gone on at HH, moreover, having grown men tweet at you over your recruitment is probably even worse.

Well not sure how many times a CUSA school is going to have a guy ranked top 10 nationally sign with one of our schools, so its a pretty big deal...Now the soap opera and drama has gotten old but this has been a national story with all the twists and turns...
Its definitely a big deal to get a kid ranked this high, but at this point I'm starting to think he's a headcase who may never play anywhere. "Im going, Im not, Im going overseas, I quit, I'm back..." sounds like he didnt want to play for WKU, then quit, found out the grass was no greener elsewhere at this point and is back to his only option. And he shouldn't be able to play this year now. If he has to sit he may not come back or may transfer, if he plays he may not even be excited enough to put forth any energy and could be detrimental to chemistry on the team. Who knows? If and when he suits up and starts playing as a starter is when I'll be more interested in his story. In some ways I almost feel bad for the guy. If he even wants to play basketball anymore he probably should just go overseas, make some good money and then if he's good enough, go to the NBA. Wouldn't surprise me though if he never plays again for anyone at this point.

Not to mention all the other fanbases that might have been hopeful he'd pick their school. He's a bigtime recruit for sure and gets the attention that goes with it. For his sake I hope he's able to cope and focus on his game.
He sounds like he's a mentally weak kid. I'm not expecting much out of him this first year. If he stays more than one year he might be able to help you guys. As of right now, all he's done is cause a ton of drama.

I think the drama is over, you will see how weak he is soon enough.
I believe the Robinson vs. Walters matchup will be an interesting one.
Walters gives up three inches but has 40 pounds on Robinson. Walters, IMO, has the best chance to play at the next level on MT's team (more so than Giddy I would argue). So, the matchup of watching Robinson attempt to "out-athlete" Walters vs Walters trying to out muscle Robinson should be fun to watch.
Walters is a late bloomer and he's going to have a chance to have a really big year.
