Football-Indy Syndicate: Possible secession plan for MWC schools prior to 2020
With all the talk about the MWC going solely to streaming, the idea of MWC secession is being talked about a lot.
It is possible the MWC media revenue will be so low that teams will be able to make more from their own deals?
Many are speculating that Boise is going to have to give up their special considerations and just be an ordinary member. This can't sit well with the Broncos.
A Football-Indy syndicate with BYU, Hawaii, San Diego, and Boise, becoming allies (as SDSU and Boise park their Olympics in the Big West) might give those teams a big leg up on the SJSUs. Add the Nevada schools and the Big West would make the MWC its... 05-nono.

Some of those schools will need to do what they need to do.

Feel free to mine through this thread about the MWC's upcoming TV contract value. I haven't quantified the various voices and their positions.

There is no plan.
However, the AD's and Univ Presidents have talked about the TV deal and there has been heavy discussions about it. I do believe that there is going to be more games streamed and I'm speculating that Stadium will be a bigger player in 2020. Not only in the digital area but OTA as well.

Truthfully I don't know that there is a whole lot of room for too many more G5/P5 tweeners like BYU. There are only so many games against true P5s to go around and many will at best only give 2 for 1s. If schools like SDSU, Boise St, BYU, and AFA are all Indy they are just going to end up playing against each other.

I'd like to see more independent schools and Liberty could use the company.

In these parts we call them "insiders". They're never wrong and news happens on Tuesday's.
