Did the Grizzlies hire Tubby Smith on Monday?
First ZBo, now Vinsanity. Who's next? Tony Allen to SacTown?

When you're paying Chandler Parson's $20+ million, you can't afford to keep your legends to finish out their careers.

It was time to move on anyway. You cant resign aging players just because they make you feel warm and fuzzy on the inside

The Grizz are rebuilding and need to develop the young guys. A 42 win team that has lost in the first round in consecutive years can't throw 32 millions dollar at two guys over 35. I expect TA to be gone in a few days too

Even if they are better than young ones it gets the team no better but older every year. I grudgingly agree that it's time to hang up gritt and grind and change directions. The league has changed or changing into the Warriors style/Spurs revamped league and the grizz can't even dare to compete with the those teams unders GS on that level with the now old fashioned Memphis style . Nobody is probably going to catch GS the next few years barring injuries but teams are already changing and getting ready for when GS do eventually drop off

Can't rebuild without draft picks. Parsons contract will go down as worst in Grizzly history.

Bryant Reeves and Mike Dickerson could argue with that you about that. They weren't as much as Parsons, but they both took up huge percentages of the team's salary cap room without being able to play.
Reeves was just under a max deal.

I'm not familiar with what the grizzlies did in Vancouver. I think the Parsons contract will have the biggest negative impact though. The western conference got a whole lot stronger and the grizzlies couldn't or didn't do anything to get better because of it. That's the front office fault though.

The Grizzlies signed Reeves to a 5 year, $50 million deal back when he took up a quarter of the cap room. That last year of his deal (the second year in Memphis, he took up 33% of the cap space). Chandler Parsons, by comparison, was 23% of the cap room last season.
Mike Dickerson signed a $43 million contract extension in 2001 but got hurt and never played on that deal.

Reeves gets a bad rap. He was actually good until injuries got the better of him.

He still was an albatross for the Memphis Grizzlies payroll.
