Why make that commitment, then? I'm sure long time ND fans will love playing Wake, NC State, Duke instead of Purdue, Michigan, Michigan St ...

I don't miss the Big Ten games one bit.

RE: coaches on hot seat
ND has shown absolutely no indication they're stopping playing Big Ten teams totally. NONE.
2018- Michigan, Northwestern
2019- Michigan
2020- Purdue
2021- Purdue
2022- Ohio St
2023- Ohio St
2024- Purdue
2025- Purdue
2026- Purdue, Michigan St
2027- Michigan St

So they're going to have at least 1 Big Ten game the next 11 years, and some years 2- and were all scheduled in addition to those other OOC games like Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas, etc.

And when I find a longtime (longer than you) ND fan who does miss the BT games and thinks the ACC games are a mistake, it proves you're wrong ... right?

Odds against Sumlin

Difficult schedule + rookies/freshman at too many key positions

7-5 miiiiiiight be enough but it would probably require a) at least one big scalp (bama /LSU/UF) and 2) no November collapse

Guess we'll see

I miss the Michigan game; before i did not but time has made me appreciate it.

Purdue, that game could never happen again and i would be happy. I think the ACC deal has made SOME ND fans miss some of our Big Ten games. Some like Terry, are happy as clams with the reduced games.
Me, I miss the Michigan game and want to get the MSU game back yearly. MSU disappears for awhile off our schedule.

Turner Gill may not make it back to FBS with Liberty if he doesn't have a good season this year. The problem is the team can't make the postseason so he'll really have his work cut out for him to motivate and develop the team for next year.

I think the biggest protection that Brian Kelly...or any other ND coach had...was the fact that Notre Dame was still paying on Charlie Weis' contract. No way they were going to be paying TWO coaches severance pay. But they paid the final installment to Charlie... So Kelly had better start winning.

Well I already know one, but that doesn't matter because no one ever changes their minds on an internet message board!

I think that Urban Meyer has the biggest hot seat. If he doesn't win the CFP, I think that there will be lots of pissed off fans in Columbus.
