I agree, but in this case it seems like it was an honest mistake with no intention of disrespect. Kind of like going on vacation to Japan and shaking someone's hand.

I went jogging in Paris once, and turned into the Invalides. I was immediately confronted and waved out, given that it is both Mapileon's tomb and an active hospital.

So, again, why is this a story?

Stupid move on his part. But as noted, he apologized and should move on.

If this is what it takes to make someone unfit for public office, there wouldn't be any qualified Democrats.
