Johnny Dawkins | BJ Taylor is comparable to best guards I’ve coached

Johnny Dawkins has coached several special guards during his career and now the second-year head coach at UCF believes he has another one in junior B.J. Taylor.
“He’s comparable to the top guards I’ve ever coached,” Dawkins said Monday on the College Hoops Today Podcast. “I was obviously at Duke for a long time as an assistant and then had guys like Chasson Randle at Stanford. B.J. is in that same class for sure.”

NOTE: After his long-interview with Coach Dawkins...he gives his AAC 1-12 Power Rankings, plus his AAC Player of the Year and his First Team All-Conf.

I'll look forward to seeing Taylor, Fall and UCF play this coming season. A very interesting team with great potential.

He led all his questions where any coach would give the same answer..
I thought Donnie was just randomly praising bj on his own accord but he was forced into that comment

Jon: I think bj is so good, where does he rank against all the guards you coached
Donnie : he's comparable (what else is he supposed to say, downgrade his own player)
Jon: tacko so dominant, you probably never had a dominant defensive player like him
Donnie: I actually have but tacko is up there

UCF has a good team but this is the year they need to break thru and make it to NCAA and win there. Tackos don't grow on trees and he won't be around much longer

I agree with this. This year will be huge for UCF. With Tacko, now is the time to solidify the basketball brand with so many eyes on this special talent.

jon: do you think rob gray has the scoring potential as anyone who has played at houston
sampson: he is comparable

Still not sure what your point is or why it matters. You don't like the phrasing of the questions is that the whole reason for your posts? What are you really trying to say.

Hyping up his team/star player...nothing to see here.

BJ is an all conference type player. Definitely one of the best college guards DJ has ever been around, I don't think its just coach speak.

Its really fun after games to read opponents fans talk about how lucky BJ was to make a shot or incredible play, and the next week to see the next team's fans say the same thing. Hes an elite scorer I don't think it can be denied.

His biggest knock is he is fragile in terms of injury. When he is healthy he is always one of the best players on the court.

Big fan of BJ Taylor. Really dangerous all-around player. Makes big time shots and really tough shots. Him and Dotson at UH always seemed to make so many tough shots against us.

Taylor is UCF's engine, but I like watching Fall play because of his uniqueness. The Tigers may help counter Fall with another center from the African continent - Karin Azab. He is listed at 6-11 and 290 lbs.

Actions speak louder than words boys the same goes for Kevin Ollie if he doesn't produce and show wins he'll be out

coaches have to say this stupid sh!t. mick cronin always (as us bearcats do) compares one of his players to a former player. he even goes beyond that probably. it's building up the fans. bj taylor knows coach is blowing smoke up his ass. he knows better

Sound a little bitter must be still hurting from BJ dropping 27 on you guys last year. Scored half of UCFs points for the game!

Lots of great guards in the American and BJ is just one of them.
