Alabama A&M's (SWAC) RPI last year was 351 out of 351!

Samford is a very well coached team and I'm sure our staff doesn't want any part of them.

We have a hard time putting quality games on our schedule and our staff doesn't want any part of Samford? We should stop scheduling 300+ teams especially if we can help it.

The coaching staff have proven they are not afraid to schedule good teams. I don't know what is being smoked by some posters.

Agree. Not sure afraid of Samford is coming from.
I doubt we "afraid" of most mid-major teams. But you do realize that Samford's record and statistically (RPI and Pomeroy) was a better team than we were, Further Samford probably would be more excited/get up for UAB than we would. Heck they might even be favored over us,

On the other hand we appear to be afraid of 2 for 1s with major teams which IMHO is the only way to get a decent home games and hope to improve joe fans interest.

I thought I'd heard that Ehsan indicated that he couldn't get that kind of agreement either. After all a home lost is more impactful(negatively) than a road loss. Also, I imagine it might be a bit easier next year when Lee and Cokley are gone, too...

Not scheduling Samford in football and men's basketball may have more to do with the confrontations that occurred during the last regularly scheduled games between the schools in both sports. There was definite bad blood after those match-ups. Granted, everyone or almost everyone now in the UAB athletic department came along well afterwards, but sometime those type things become perpetual.

That or it could just be the case that Samford doesn't want to play UAB.

Couple of points. Team, (majors) are almost all stopping the two for ones. This has been in some interviews. majors are simply doing everything they can now to not go on the road OOC.

Second we offered Samford a H&H a few years ago and was rejected because they thought they would get a H&H with Auburn and Auburn backed out and we told them to pound sand. Add what Jay said above into the equation.

FTR I would not be opposed to a H&H with them. I think it should be a season opener. Lets go to their gym first.

Yeah at a a recent donor function, Ehsan said he can't even get P5 teams to agree to 2 for 1's anymore. They just flat refuse to play at a mid-major's home court under any scenario for the most part.
