RE: Norvell & Frost Mentioned for Ole Miss Head Coach Job
my guess is Matt Luke will be 'Interim HC' until the end of the season since we already know there won't be a bowl...I would then expect Mississippi to swing for the fences with Les Miles. If Les says 'no thanks' then someone like Blake Anderson at Ark St seems like a natural choice. Perhaps Neal Brown if Troy has another solid season.

Of course Luke will be interim HC this year. Did someone really think Ole Miss would make a permanent new head coach (and new staff) hire just days before summer practice starts?

I know it is SEC, but they are going to be under sanctions and lose schollies. Other than a young guy wanting to grab some quick cash or an old dude running out the string, why would anyone want the gig.

I wouldn't want that mess today, in 2 years yes.

I doubt Frost would leave for Ole Miss but there is a price for everyone. I would think if he can be successful at UCF the next two years he could land a much better offer than Ole Miss. Frost is smart enough to know that too.

You need better research. Fuente was the second football coach to ever leave Memphis for another job. The other was Fred Pancoast in the early 1960s.

yup. We had like 7 out of 8 fired head coaches before Fuente. And the 8th coach died in a plane crash/

Scherer
Stobart

My Schadenfrude about Ole Miss' troubles is tempered by the possible targets to replace Freeze.

Media and fans always go flailing about blindly whenever a job opens up reasoning that 'it just makes sense'. They have as much clue as you and me.

This is, in fact, not the case. I'm told Les is extremely interested and has made that known to Ole Miss money folks. https://t.co/gLpZL1G5om

yeah, Mississippi fans...

of course I'm sure they also think Saban will crawl to Oxford to coach them. It's how they are.

personally, I think High Freeze will be a great future OC for Saban at Bama.

Its exactly what Les wants. A respectable SEC job with no expectations where he can sit on his butt and make make 5 million a year and blame the bad results on NCAA sanctions. Les is tired. Supposedly he is showing up for interviews unprepared with a binder put together by his assistants back at LSU. He doesnt really want to work anymore. He's just fine collecting LSU paychecks---but if someone wants to pay 5 million for minimal effort on his part---he will probably take it.
