Tom Osborne talking to schools that express interest in B1G
Tom Osborne won’t name names. But the iconic former Nebraska Cornhuskers coach and athletic director told Land of 10 Friday that he’s been approached by other schools that have expressed “interest” in joining the Big Ten.
“I don’t want to start jumping into that hornet’s nest where someone’s quoting me as saying, ‘Well, this school ought to join the Big Ten,’ ” Osborne said during a media tour in greater Des Moines to promote his TeamMates mentoring organization.
“And we have a lot of friends in the Big 12 [in] a lot of the regent schools like Kansas and Kansas State and Iowa State.

Nobody who is serious calls a former coach who has been out of the loop for over a decade as a go between. They would call a president of a Big 10 school to access interest because the president can easily speak to the commissioner. If they called Osborne it was to see if he thought Nebraska had made a mistake.

He was Nebraska 'a AD a couple of years ago.
He can pointvpeople in the right direction and gauge interest for both sides. He has some use. His comments are not written in stone, but shouldn't be dismissed either.

He's the kind of guy a booster might call. Presidents already know who to call. We've moved past this way of communicating and coaches and A.D.'s have precious little to say in the actual talks. They express preferences to the presidents and advise when asked questions.
This sounds more to me like a booster, or boosters, were checking up on their president's version of things.

This is mostly two things,
1. Regents and boosters chit chatting, and...
2. Slow summer click bait.
