NFL teams usually don't rush to draft spread qb's early unless they have a monster season. Wouldn't be surprised to see the patriots pick him up.

This is from the article...

"Ferguson also played in a lot of pro-style concepts in college. Spending time under center and in the pistol. Memphis runs more of a ball control offense now, which explains why Ferguson’s numbers were good but not overly inflated. Teams will like the fact he will not have a huge learning curve in transition to the next level."

Even in the highlight reel there wasn't a lot of under center action going on. I said Ferguson may be the best quarterback in the NCAA. I still predict late 2nd round - 6th round pick based on the way NFL teams draft unless he has a monster season.

I guess what I am driving at is that we do not really run a true spread offense. Most colleges run some variation of the spread. I just do not think our offense is a true spread offense that would make NFL teams shy away from drafting Riley early.

If he goes top 5 we had one HELL of a year.

Like.....Jared Goff from Cal? QBs go early all the time and often from schools who do diddly squat. It's all ability and potential not NCAA accolades. Just ask Tebow.

Folks, seriously? TWO NFL caliber QB's in the last 40 years of Tiger Football is not a trend.

Last 25 years:
USC
Michigan
FSU

He's not a runner but he has plenty pocket awareness and elusiveness. He made it sound like he's a stiff statue back there

He was pretty bad with it early in the season. Improved big time as the season progressed. Maybe that's why some people say he has lack of mobility.

He has the mobility. Last years line was hit or miss. It should be well improved, his footwork will become less sporadic, and he will continue to climb.

Riley is unfortunately being compared to Paxton Lynch, who can flat out run.

True the comparisons to Lynch do make him seem slow...But Norvells offense also shows his inability to run as well as he puts Riley in places to run the ball often.

I would say that if Ferguson is selected as one of the top five QBs in the NFL draft next April, then that is a helluva bragging point for MEMPHIS to point out the last two starters were chosen in the top 5 QBs selected.

However, in no way does that make MEMPHIS "QB U".
