If true, this is great news. No need to accommodate the dems. Trump needs to go find another solid conservative. This is why the dems never should have made the Senate go nuclear over Gorsuch. The precedent has been set, and there is no need for a single dem vote. This could change the balance for 30 years.

I remember some of sum mentioning another amendment or few during DJT's tenure....lol....

there is absolutely NO reason to accomodate them......this isn't a 3rd grade playground fight....

there's a reason the dippos/msm got nervous before the election....

goddammit.....this is too much fonzies....

I hope it's someone that makes Scalia look leftist.

Lol.

And who the hell would that be?!?

Priscilla Owen
Janice Rogers Brown
William Pryor
Diane Sykes

Only ever heard of/read about Pryor and Owen, I'll go look up the others.

Sounds good to me, unfortunately I fear Scalia was genuinely one of a kind. Maybe we can find someone that's close.

Rogers Brown intrigues me. Not because she's a black female but for her positions.

https://web.archive.org/web/200311030603...fedsoc.htm

Quote:"Socialism concentrated all the wealth in the hands of an oligarchy in the name of social justice, reduced peoples to misery in the name of shar[ed] resources, to ignorance in the name of science. It created the modern world's most inegalitarian societies in the name of equality, the most vast network of concentration camps ever built [for] the defense of liberty."17

Revel warns: "The totalitarian mind can reappear in some new and unexpected and seemingly innocuous and indeed virtuous form. [ΒΆ]... [I]t ... will [probably] put itself forward under the cover of a generous doctrine, humanitarian, inspired by a concern for giving the disadvantaged their fair share, against corruption, and pollution, and 'exclusion.'"18

Of course, given the vision of the American Revolution just outlined, you might think none of that can happen here. I have news for you. It already has. The revolution is over. What started in the 1920's; became manifest in 1937; was consolidated in the 1960's; is now either building to a crescendo or getting ready to end with a whimper.

At this moment, it seems likely leviathan will continue to lumber along, picking up ballast and momentum, crushing everything in its path. Some things are apparent. Where government moves in, community retreats, civil society disintegrates, and our ability to control our own destiny atrophies. The result is: families under siege; war in the streets; unapologetic expropriation of property; the precipitous decline of the rule of law; the rapid rise of corruption; the loss of civility and the triumph of deceit. The result is a debased, debauched culture which finds moral depravity entertaining and virtue contemptible.

Why not? Trump lives and dies by the deal. This is an obvious one.

I view it the same as free speech. People say idiotic stuff all the time on twitter, media, interviews, whatever. They get boycotted. Why wouldn't that work in business? Unless you get some sick thrill knowing that a racist is FORCED to serve you I'm not sure what the point is. I prefer to know exactly who my enemies are.

Too bad Judge Edith Jones from the 5th Circuit is 68 years of age.

If Kennedy resigns Trump's short list will likely include Prior or Thomas Hardiman. Keep to what he's already vetted,

Gorsuch was to make the conservatives happy.
Now he'll look to pull a deal and find someone more moderate/centrist.

Why would he go moderate... Unless he manages to raise stalin from the dead and nominate him the left is going to attack whoever he appoints.

They can't. Muller doesn't have anything anyway. He'll try a "Scooter Libby" on someone just to justify the expenses of his Staff and appointment.

That was my understanding, they can't. Once appointed, it runs it's course only to end when the prosecutor says it ends.

There is a massive gap between the legal outline and the way business is done. If they can deliver, I think Trump makes the deal.

Trump can confirm at 51 Votes. No need to make a deal.

I'd love for Ted Cruz to be appointed to SCOTUS. Opens up a Senate slot in Texas that I'm sure Dan Patrick would love to fill.

Abbott gets rid of Patrick and his "unreasonableness" in the Texas Senate. Abbott gets rid of a potential competitor in a Primary for the Governor's Race.

Some meaningful Legislation then can get passed in the Senate instead of this stupid "Bathroom Bill" crap.

They are all sick. Democrats, Mitch McConnell, John McCain, Paul Ryan, Lindsey Graham, Pelosi, Reid, Schumer, Warren, Booker, Castro, the Clintons... wouldn't let my children alone with a single one of them.

Frankly, this was the main reason many supported Trump. If he shifts the court balance, many will view his presidency as a success regardless of whether he delivers on any of his promises.

Well, to be honest, Coog.. he might actually have a reason to go centrist a bit.

Let's just say he does go Centrist in his choice... and the Democrats vehemently oppose whomever it is, it further puts the nail in the coffin of Democrats having ANY appearance of being willing to be moderates.

Trump can basically lay out the "I went this far for you..." and it wasn't enough. Who's the party that's standing against the American people moving forward?

I do agree, that if it's true and Kennedy is retiring and another strict constitutionalist is appointed.. then yes, I will say that Trump's Presidency is a sure-fire success.

Trump specifically promised to nominate conservative judges (PLURAL)

I see zero evidence he would now back track and pick a centrist.
