RE: Physician Assistant Program On Probation
Disappointing for sure. PA programs are high interest programs that can increase enrollment if done well. Hope this is a temporary issue with a quick fix for sure.

RE: Physician Assistant Program On Probation
The program has now lost its accreditation. http://www.toledoblade.com/Education/201...ation.html

I posted the original story. How this was allowed to happen with well over 100 students in the program is indefensible. Apparently in the four months since the program was put on probation, nothing was done.

Dean Cooper should be immediately fired (he said he in looking into the problem?????), and our president needs to be forthcoming instead of hiding behind bureaucratic mumbo jumbo. I want to support her, but after another downturn in enrollment after she promised positive gains, i have to question what she was doing for four months. This should have been a top priority, and a front page story in the Blade is a big black eye for UT.

I missed the original story. This is too bad. I wonder how the relationship with ProMedica ties in, if at all.

The cavalier attitude of UT officials about obvious problems in the program is disturbing. They knew there were problems, and even after being put on probation did little to keep from losing its accreditation. Instead of treating this as an emergency they have now decided to hire a law firm to defend themselves instead of doing the work to help the program. Heads need to roll after a complete and open investigation.

That is a disgrace and a disservice to the University. Heads should roll; but it will be interesting as to how this problem is resolved internally. Don't know any inside scoop about this particular program, but experience tells me in some similar situations in the past a fox was sometimes put in charge of getting the hen house back in order.
