Because Connecticut has home and homes scheduled with numerous P5 schools in the next few years, I'm not going to complain about the AD agreeing to a one-off with a championship caliber program. If we see a handful of these types of games scheduled, that would be a different story.
Plus it will be sweet to visit Death Valley.
Like it or not, you have to do a game like that when it is offered.
Uconn hate suspended for a minute:
- The AAC wants respect, you play this game. A lot can happen leading up to 2021 including UConn improving, Clemson slipping (lets face it as of today those are the ONLY two directions that each program can go)
- That will be an exposure game for UConn to the ACC - it is no secret that is UConn's goal - you have a golden opportunity handed to you to prove you can compete in that conference - that would be akin to a Houston beating Oklahoma scenario.
- You are getting paid a handsome sum of dough and last time I checked, the AAC is not getting 17M per school per year and you are losing a lot more in old BE money expiring than you are gaining in new TV rights; and you are a state school with a state capitol (Hartford) that is rumored to be on the brink of bankruptcy - TAKE THE MONEY!
- You can and should demand a return basketball game - what is the downside of that? If you are worried about losing that game, your P5 aspirations are a fraud...
- There is no shame in getting paid to play a game like this. You only have a finite number of opportunities to make some waves each football season.
OK Resume UConn hate.....
