Montanas are going nowhere, UNC has football rest of Summit does not, have to agree with Jon, UMKC and Chicago State, then see what happens to WAC.

RE: So who goes to the Summit?
If it's IUPUI that leaves, I'm going to suggest that the Summit not make a move. There's no realistic addition that makes them a better conference. IUPUI doesn't sponsor baseball, so their departure basically does nothing to the Summit.

If any Summit school that sponsors baseball leaves, the Summit will be in violation of multi-sport conference requirements, so the priority will be to add a basebal-playing school. Northern Colorado, if they can accommodate their football team, will be the obvious addition due to geography. The other route is to break off the MVFC and sponsor football on its own, and again Northern Colorado meets that need. Sponsoring football eliminates the need to be concerned with sponsoring baseball or men's soccer aside from meeting the needs of Summit League members.

I guess if the Summit got desperate for baseball schools, it could invite Chicago State, as they could function as travel partners for Western Illinois or IUPUI, but that would assume the program survives at a Division I level. It might be easier to get UMKC to add it as a condition for joining the conference.

If Northern Colorado isn't the next move, then the Summit must look to the Montana twins or to the Southland. Even though it would make sense to leave the bloated Southland, I can't see anyone wanting to make the move.

UMKC or Northern Colorado.

Ideally, Fort Wayne gets admitted into Horizon next year and Summit adds both for an even 10 and better geography.

If Idaho goes to the Big Sky and the Montanas immediately move to the Summit a brigade of Idaho boosters with pitchforks will descend on Chuck Staben's house. I hope it happens just for that.

The Montanas.

The Montanas, Idaho and EWU. Idaho won't go unless the new Summit commits to FBS. There's a lot of hemming and hawing, but this drama was pre-planned.

ORU goes to the WAC or Horizon. Maybe Omaha too. W Illinois backs fills for Murray St, which goes MVC.

Sounds like another good ploy to get your school to move to FBS.

First it was reclassify the Big Sky, next take advantage of the WAC's right to return to FBS.

Then your school heads to the Summit so now the plan is to turn that one into a FBS conference.

I'm just waiting on the new stadium on campus announcement. I follow UND closely enough to know that something big is in the offing. Almost every school in the future Summit seems to be preparing for an FBS future. W Illinois isn't so they are free to leave. The WAC used to be the only viable answer to get FBS. Liberty showed that wasn't true.

A Northern plains/Rockies MAC league has been a dream of our Presidents for years. Just trying my best to educate the masses.

It won't be part of the G5 however.

N Colorado would be great, not sure if that's realistic at this time.

But the North Dakota move was to get to 10 and travel partners BB scheduling; IUPUI bailing puts them back to 9 and terrible BB scheduling.
