RE: WAC basketball schedules
From my detective work- I've found that uvu is playing at Idaho state nov 14, hosting utsa December 2, at Hawaii dec 17. I'm surprised they're not playing Utah state this year though.

UVU finally released the basketball schedule yesterday...

Now, only NMSU has yet to release its' schedule.

Kentucky 11/10 and Duke 11/11. Makes UVU the only WAC team with a theoretical chance of making the top 25 in the first poll of the season.

I wonder what odds Vegas would give for UVU taking down both Duke and Kentucky. Ain't gonna happen but it is fun to think about.

If elite teams are going to stumble it's often in their first game of the season. So I'd give UVU 1:50 on each game and 1:2500 on taking down both.

What's more likely is the opposite: UVU knocks Duke or Kentucky out of the top 25 by beating the spread by too many points.

Im expecting a strong 10/15 minutes in both games then the final scores being similar like 90-63.

NMSU still hasn't released a complete basketball schedule but pieces of the puzzle are falling into place. St Mary's has released its' schedule and NMSU is slated to play at the Gaels on November 13th.

Nope. Saint Mary's is too fearful to step foot into the Pan American Center.

NMSU vs. St. Marys is a home and home series. St. Marys will come to LC 2018-19.

Check that contract for the SMC buyout on the return trip and budget it for next year. Writing checks instead of playing away games in hostile environments is kind of their thing.

I agree. Check the fine print of the contract. SMC is not going to step foot on NMSU soil unless NMSU all of a sudden falls flat and ends up with a losing record this year. Congrats on getting a nice buy out check from them next year though. ^_^

RE: WAC basketball schedules
Currently, NMSU plays only 6 non-conference games at home (Arizona Christian, New Mexico, UTEP, Prairie View A&M, San Diego, Northern New Mexico) while playing 8 non-conference games away. I suspect NMSU will announce one or two more "home" games against lower D1 opponents to finalize the 2017-18 schedule.

Saint Mary's doesn't think GCU is good enough to host them. It has nothing to do with GCU arena and their fan support. NMSU is good enough to host Saint Mary's. Saint Mary's has played in Las Cruces before.

Two ways of looking at it. Either they do not think GCU is good enough (your view), or they think GCU is too good. Since St. Mary's cannot afford a non-conference loss to a WAC team if they hope to get an at-large bid to the NCAA, I'm betting they felt GCU might beat them and they are not afraid of losing at NMSU. If St. Mary's buys out the contract, NMSU should take it as a compliment. If they decide to play then they feel they have a winnable game on their hands.
If they do decide to play, I hope you beat them!

Nmsu has a better home record at the Pan Am than GCU at the GCU arena the last 3 years. Just ask Southern Illinois Edwardsville or whatever they are called. This fantasy that GCU fans have that everyone is terrified to play at GCU arena is absurd.
