If App can hang on to the top guys in this class I'd be pleasantly surprised. The top three seem like guys who, with a senior season that shows some improvement, be P5 bound. Though App being as successful as they have been on defense and the offense being extremely friendly to the RB and OL positions, as well as a head coach who played QB could be a motivating factor for these guys.

Extremely friendly to the OL positions? You mean in terms of trying to get them? My understanding is ya'll were still struggling for quality depth in that unit. Cue the stAte fans with "BUT YOUR CENTER," comments.

The offense is ideal for offensive lineman who like to do more than drop back into pass coverage. The depth is getting there with the classes from the previous two years. App has at least one guy that will get a look in the NFL, maybe two this year. One that will get a look in another 3 years, and those that have yet to start behind them.

Nice. I would imagine there is enough room for a full class this year.

We landed a RB that was offered by Navy, Army and Air Force. Wofford and SIU offered as well. I am betting he was in an option offense lol.

I'd say you're right on the money there.

Apps pick up a OL, OLB & DE to run the total to 17. Turning into a great Peach Season in Boone with 7 commits so far from Georgia.

This is why our whomever our coach is should be near the 70's in recruiting not in the 90's+, AL and Clemson would have zero NC's if not for GA talent. Half of the teams in the south would not even be able to field a team....Honestly all the talent in the world within a four hour drive from campus and our coach landed a bottom quarter class last year...wtf.

I never understood why Tex State could never stay a consistent winner. I almost went there but at time they were FCS and it was basically 13th grade for a Cypress kid. Will be interesting to see if they can turn it around with this coach.

The thing about Texas is that you've got 12 FBS schools, then 3 FBS schools in Oklahoma that heavily recruit Texas. That's more FBS schools than are in Florida and Georgia combined.

Meanwhile, Florida and Georgia combined generally produce more FBS players than Texas does.

I'm not saying Texas State can't compete (because they for sure can), but just in terms of numbers it isn't the top place in the country to set up an FBS school as of now.

When Willie Quits was there we battled for a couple of receivers, but for the most part the differences in our offenses rarely has us going for the same guys. We lock horns for more defensive players, but since we changed to Woody's hybrid 3-4 it seems to be happening less often.

I'm trying to not get too excited just because our class was #1 all fall last year and was hit hard when P5 schools came after our top guys in January. I think it is telling that a lot of our guys are at that lower P5 level.
However, the new signing period may change some things, very curious to see if we can now keep our top guys.

He out recruited P5's in his second season with a class in the 70's. That is top of the G5 one year later we back to 90's+ where most of us live. 70's is high but should be a lot closer to 70 than 90 with the talent in this state and yes for most teams not named App the last few years it shows up on the field despite coaching most often.

The reality is most of the prospects signed in the Sunbelt showing P5 offers are not committable offers. Those P5 guys toss out offers in the spring like candy at Halloween. I'm far more interested in who we actually beat for a player and not who tossed out a quasi offer a year ago.

Not trying to throw water on your fire, but going on an official vist doesn't nerecessarily mean they are a take. He could be the 3rd or 4th option in case they lose someone. All schools play the same game.

We are up to about 10 or 11 recruits but only know who 7 of them are.

He had an offer he was JUCO mid year signing day was around the corner. My friend coached him in HS and my friend son played with him was his host.He 100% had committable offer. I know a lot more on this situation than you do. Just ask and I will tell you vs speculating.

100% Illinois offered our guys week before signing day trying to flip.
No water on fire just facts.
