Why are we or is coach still talking about rpi? This is a one bid league, he knows what it takes to land the bid or bids for postseason that should be the focus.

There is always a chance it won't be a one Bid league. It is important to get our RPI as strong as possible at all times. Why wouldn't you want that?

Because we are in a one bid league that shows no sign of improving. Also if it did the ncaa would still take a p5 its pretty obvious now.

Oh geez what a novel concept this is. You mean to tell me it helps to have multiple teams with strong rpis?

Just win your conference tourney. Everybody knows the formula. Everybody knows the P5 will get most of their teams in. If you think we get two bids in this current conference in the ncaa tourney in the next couple of years i got lakefront property in Titusville for sale.
I kinda see why Haase played that easy schedule his last year here now. Also what steps has the conference as a whole taken for improvements? Six home games non conference with no D2 schools??

Nobody thinks we are getting two in, but there is an outside chance we have a couple of teams have some good seasons at once. If we can get 3 or 4 teams in the top 50 OOC we have a shot. Again- not likely but an outside possibility any given year. And I'd hate to have a coach who didn't schedule well when that year comes around.

Was Mike Davis 2011 squad the last time this conference had multiple bids?

having a better rpi means you played better teams during the regular season. playing better teams during the regular season makes you more prepared to win the conference tournament. it also gives you a higher rpi which makes you a better candidate the next time there is an opening in a better conference

No, it wasn't. Southern miss and la tech have screwed themseleves out of bids by not scheduling in recent years, and 2014-2015 odu screwed themselves by losing to UTSS and bowing out in the first round of the tournament. It requires a lot to get a bid now, but it's far from impossible.

Even if we remain a one bid conference, RPI can factor into seeding in the NCAA tournament.

Well when was it. And its impossible now its a pipe dream but dream on. Most expect this league to improve im basketball when you have schools who last ncaa tourney appearance was in the 90s.

Didn't USM and Memphis make it in 2012?

But the scheduling is getting harder unless we start playing home and homes. I honestly wouldnt care where they seed UAB long as we made the tourney. I look at the matchup first then seeding. I wonder did mtsu care about seeding the last two year because they handled it on the court. We played a decent schefule last year which prepared us for an early cusa tourney loss. I agree on the conference realignment point.

Yes. we also had several close calls in very recent years. Arguing that RPI doesn't matter is simply foolish. Just because we've been bad in recent years doesn't mean things can't change.
If wku is a very good team this year and us, UTEP, odu, la tech, mtsu, and Charlotte can at least be solid the conference is significantly better. We will still have issues with the f_u's and Texas schools dragging ass, but if the top can improve that will give us a chance to get an at large in the conference.
