2017 Campus Appreciation Thread
Not everyone gets the chance to travel to other SBC schools so drop some pictures of some favorite spots on your campus to show off or recent/future upgrades you're excited about, could be both academic or athletic. Construction is the sign of a healthy campus on the rise! Y'all don't have to post as many pictures as me. Just show off your favorite parts of campus to people who otherwise wouldn't see it.

Favorite Spot: Sweetheart Circle (Original 1906 campus)

Best Buildings: Art, Biology, Performing Arts, Library, Lakeside Dining Hall
[Image: F9vuezV.jpg]

New Stuff:
Health Center - completed
[Image: GA-Southern_01.png]

Shooting Sports Center - completed
[Image: GSUartistRendering1.jpg]

Military Science Academy - completed
[Image: J-236-Exterior_Main-Entry_reduced.jpg]

Interdisciplinary Classroom Building - under construction (33.6M)

Health Professions Building - under construction (22.6M)
[Image: 867743_web1_sav_011417_merger.jpg?itok=0djvyLpp]
This building is going on the new Savannah Campus of GS which will add about 7-8,000 students to our current student population.

We also have a 5M Engineering Research Lab and a new multipurpose arena which are both in the planning/study stages of development.

Let's see if I can do this right.

Alkek Library, our huge ass block library. Apparently its equivalent to 7 football fields stacked on to one another. Have some cool private study rooms at the top. Great views of San Marcos from up there, especially at night.
[Image: files.php?file=AlkekLibrary_headliner_875425284.jpg]

Taylor Murphy History Building. My favorite building, has a little courtyard with a garden and fountain in the middle. I believe that door below the staircase was the entry to my Pirate History class.

[Image: tumblr_inline_ogsto7XuXr1sc41sy_500.jpg]

LBJ Student Center. Has classrooms, offices, bookstore, banks, game lounge, sleep area, faux bar, and a huge food court. [Image: landscape_txstate-.jpg?mode=fit&width=2000]

Student Rec Center. 8 basketball courts (although sometimes them commie soccer players would play soccer on them), huge weight room, pool, 200 m track, golf simulator, yoga room, boxing area, smoothie bar, and lots of fit girls. I probably spent more time here than anywhere else. It's an amazing facility.

Performing Arts Center. This was under construction when I was in school. It's gorgeous.

UAC. This was new my senior year. Pretty and has a big arch.

Aquarena Center. Y'all know we have a river. This is where you go to take a glass bottom boat tour of Spring Lake, the source of the San Marcos river. [Image: c700x420.jpg]

I am just glad most of our growth happened in a short time frame and we have a common look throughout campus for the most part. Some universities have some very nice buildings and then some horrid 80's and 70's architecture mixed in.

Wow those buildings are huge. I didn't know Texas state was that large. That library is gigantic!

Not sure how I forgot to put Old Main. Oldest building on campus and home to our school radio station. I honestly think the only time I ever walked through there was on a tour.

Here's a drone vid since I can't find a picture that shows more than 50% of campus. Even though this vid still only shows like 50% ignoring West Campus, LBJ Student Center, the McCoy College of Business and most if not all of the residences.

But yea our school is huge, almost 40k enrollment. Larger than most P5s. Should be at like 45k by 2025 or so according to the master plan estimates. I graduated in 2013 and campus is drastically different than it was then. New dorms, new green spaces and all that. I can't wait to see how much it grows in the next 4 years.

After driving around Lafayette for a little bit on our way back from the Sun Belt basketball championship game I'm really surprised at how pretty y'alls campus is.

I'll add a few pics of USA's campus, which has exploded in the last decade.

I'll start with the 2 building I'm most affiliated with (Engineering and Business), although the Engineering building wasn't finished until after I graduated.

Shelby Hall - Engineering

Mitchel College of Business (Yes, the same Mitchel that the "Mitchel Center" is named after)

One of the Main Campus Entrances (has the same theme throughout campus)

The snow covered campus is my favorite since you can't see the track around KBS.

Bruh, how are you going to misspell Mitchell Center that many times when it's literally spelled for you in the images.

Ha, I honestly have no clue. I'll blame it on being in a boring meeting as I was typing. I just finished my MBA from the Mitchell College of Business last year, which makes it really sad. Been a long day.

Kudos for actually reading the text.

For real. I've never thought of our campus as beautiful. Most of the buildings are 1960s architecture with blonde brick.07-coffee3

Outside of ABI and new Liberal Arts building nothing to see here. I'm actually quite embrassed of our campus and lack of just decent landscaping.
Can't believe I almost forgot about the Art Deco buildings. I think they are beautiful. But that style is pretty polarizing.

Latest stats I could find was 2015. TXST was #52 in the US but many Universities above them are on the decline while TXST is still on the upswing. Easily in the top 50 by now.

That list includes all the joke for profit schools and community colleges and schools that have a high online enrollment, you are much higher than that when it comes to real universities, especially ones with a traditional campus(es).

GS is 218 on that list, with the consolidation with Armstrong, Georgia Southern will jump up 100+/- spots in the rankings. When ever the south campus expansion happens we will likely be top 50.

http://www.stateuniversity.com/rank/tot_enroll_rank/6

UCF is currently the new king of enrollment.

Here is for undergrad ranking for real public traditional universities.

http://blog.prepscholar.com/the-biggest-...ted-states

I’ve included two lists of the biggest public colleges and the biggest private colleges. The public colleges I included have over 25,000 undergraduates, and the private colleges have over 15,000 undergraduates. I did not include colleges where a large portion of the student body is comprised of online students because this doesn’t create the same environment as a school that has a huge on-campus population.
