Not a fluke at all. Although 7 wins could certainly be our ceiling if we don't have a capable QB ready to go next season, the building plan falls through, and our recruiting doesn't pick up.

Mostly good article, but him mentioning Samuelson & Bergman as names your going to look for on the OLine, certainly hurts this guys credibility. Those 2 will never see the field at EMU, probably not even the 2 deep. OLine still by far our biggest concern for this season. Throw in a missing punter now as well.

Let me put in my two cents worth (I want a keyboard with a cents sign. please).

We won in 2016 because we were solid on BOTH lines.

We have to replace 3/5 of a good OL + POC on defense.

Tell me how well we do it and I'll make a prediction.

DLine and defense overall, will be better than last year, in Neathery's second year. Luckily we have Harris and Crosby to pick right up where POC left off. Dawson got a waiver, so he's back after a solid year last year. Granger has dropped 15-20 lbs and seems motivated for his final year.....could see marked improvement from him. All indications are that Desmond Kelly will step right into the rotation.

Much bigger issue trying to replace Wylie and Gardner. I think we're just fine with Leatiota, Tallman, and Donnellon inside. Tallman is a big, tough dude with a nasty streak, just didn't have the feet to play outside. Donnellon now has the size after a redshirt year......always had the athleticism. Could use a couple more Juco guys just like Leatiota, who competed for a starting job the minute he stepped on campus. Not sure why we're having trouble getting Juco OLinemen, when we've done such a good job the last 2 years with the Juco DLinemen mentioned above.
I
Because Our Former offensive Line Coach was the main juco connection and he is now gone

Agreed. But our new O-Line coach came from the best JUCO program in the nation and coached at a solid southern G5 school. Was hoping that he would be a recruiting whisperer.

well don't be surprised if we add an offensive lineman from Garden CC, the question I have is he coming in this summer or next January. And remember Meadows only spent one year at JUCO so does one year as a coach at a JUCO instantly qualify you as a hot shot JUCO recruiter? I think the P5 experience is what got him the job. Remember Grubb had zero FBS experience when he was hired.

Back on the offensive line, there at least decent playing experience by the group on hand.

If the program matures and is successful we should see less JUCOs and more redshirting of frosh.

Also by the way Grubb left after the defensive JUCOs were already signed for the most part and in school in January.

I think you guys should cut the new OL and TE/ST coaches some slack until you see what they can do.

I am not being hard on the guy. Just hopeful that his history of coaching in football hotbeds would translate into recruiting success.
